The character creator was interesting and fun, even though I had no clue what I was doing or signing up for. Then they replaced that with the freedom of starting with almost no skills and no racial bonuses to attributes, and an avatar creator that is better on graphics, but somehow not better at making characters interesting to look at. At least Caldari don't have that stupid shoulder flashlight laser thing though, that thing was stupid.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!

I used to drool at this
(Speaking of which, did any expansion after Trinity exceed the size of it or is it STILL the _BIGGEST_ expansion _EVER_?)

and this gave me goosebumps

as for character creation: I tried convincing my friends to try out EVE Online. Sadly, they're the jump-in-and-start-shooting type. The old character creation allowed one to do just that... you know the rest.

Eos with 5 Heavy Drones, I almost cried when they nerfed that.

No WH's, no FW, Null was actually somewhere you tried to get to, I too still have a couple of BC's with large rigs fitted, the list goes on.

Oh and my Chopper Bike was Orange and only had 3 gears and I think Slade were in the charts at the time Blink

Quick edit because I just realised Slade are in the charts nearly every Xmas, but I'm talking about first time round Ugh

Back in my day 100 players in Yulai would bring the servers to a crawl. It was such a big problem that the jump-bridge network was changed and super-highways were removed.

Having almost 200 bookmarks for warp to 0 positions on null sec gates.

Escrow was the place to get your faction stuff.

seeing another player in 0.0 was rare.

there was a handful of different probes for the different signature types.

no wrecks, just lootcans, no tractor beams or salvagers. Slowboating to the cans.

SNOWBALL LAUNCHERS!!!!

THE OLD CYNO EFFECT! The lightning vortex, then WOOSH!

Fleets were called gangs

Man, theres alot. Its been a long time, and theres been alot of changes, not always for the best, but you eventually get used to them.

Mining in an Apoc as a Corp because it could run 8 miner I

Also

Running 10 drones from a Thorax and giving your entire gang lag. (I remeber it as 10 but it might have only been 8) - it was frigging 10 years ago.

Not to mention the player-made propaganda videos... like this

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

A titan was something special because there were only a handful.

Don't be scared, because being afk is not a crime.

Nobody cared about some backwater system named Jita. If you wanted stuff, you went to Yulai.

There were no cap ships, battlecruisers or destroyers and the only t2 ships were interceptors.

No bubbles in null (which was called 0.0 or zero zero)

15 Harvester drone domis were great mining ships.

No cloaks

No probes

Some meta 4 modules were silly expensive. I remember local hull conversion expanded cargo holds costing 30 mill each, maybe more! One of my corp mates had 5 on an itty V and i thought it was awesome that his ship cost more then a battleship and could hold more then an entire jet can!

Isk was worth somthing, a battleship was expensive and they were not very common. I remmber the first time i saw a megathron, i followed the guy for a few jumps just admiring the thing and telling him how awesome it was.

Arrow Building an outpost (station these days) was a massive undertaking requiring the efforts of a whole alliance. Capital deployment was very rare.

Arrow They had static complexes with tornados in them. And not the ship.

Arrow There was one supercarrier. A mothership named Hera belonging to The Establishment, and for a while it was unstoppable.

Arrow Oveur posted drunk

Arrow CCP trolled flying Jove ships through nullsec

Arrow Cyvok lost a the first Titan and ragequit.

Arrow Asian bloodlines made all the others terrible.

Not a diplo.

The above post was edited for spelling.

If I may blaspheme for a moment, but I actually prefer the graphics pre-trinity.

Not out of nostalgia. I barely played before Trinity. But I just prefer the blockier look to it.
