We all love to play EVE, but to play EVE, every one of us must first install EVE. And we all like that part of the process to be as convenient and hassle free as possible.

In his new dev blog, CCP Cascade tells us about the work that has been done on this front lately.

Please leave your feedback right here as always.

Sounds great. I hope it works well, though... I've had many problems with the Sisi patcher recently... :(

Awesome, a more logical patcher!

DOES IT STILL ******* DOWNLOAD TO C:\, COMPLETELY IGNORING DISK SPACE REQUIREMENTS AND LOGIC?

**** that aspect of every single patcher/installer so far. My C:\ drive is 11GiB in size, and has 200MiB free. My \temp is on X. My %appdata% is on D:\.

On that note, why can't I move the ******* cache? I can only log in on one account at a time due to disk space requirements on C:\. Pain in the ****.

Nice to see the new patcher rolling over to tq use, last couple of times I've patched sisi it's been nice to see it d/l such relatively small amounts of data compared to some huge patches in the past, even when patching what I thought was a badly out of date client, should certainly help those with evil ISPs and harsh d/l limits by cutting out spurious duplication of filesSmile

The generic patcher is only for TQ, correct? Test patches still handled by SisiLauncher for Sisi/Dudu?

Nice to know about the new patcher. Though this 'new' installer is old news. I ran this a few months back when I was just getting back into the game after an extended break.

So is there any ETA when "this is launcher it is the greatest" roll out from your forges? Cool

Also my feedback for installer:user should be able to choose the location for downloaded files (other than default C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE\downloads)
Many times new players complain because they do not have enough space on system drive, and the only option they have is to redownload the whole fallback installer.

Can you make it to use BitTorrent? It will download much faster for people who are not close to your CDN. BT is perfect tool for patches.

I think the answer to my question is "no", but just in case..

Does any of this effect Mac users?

There is a Generic Patch for the Mac, so yes, however there is no 4GB single file, size limit on HFS+ so there's no requirement for a multiple payload installer for the Mac.

Is there a way to patch the payloads? I carry the game files on a USB stick because I tend to install everywhere I go.

I would love to be able to update the payloads instead of having to patch every client since the intial download.

Wish there was an option to select where you want to download the content and where you want to install the game not just dump everything on C:\ cos in some cases people might have less then 4GB and wont be able to download the game at all.
