Any game in which the beta is used to generate revenue but its players are still under NDA sounds like a scam to me. The company can build up hype to get more users and micro-transactions, but the NDA would prevent criticism which would deter new players.

This beta isn't here to generate revenue, although I paid some just to test if the Aurum stuff is worth the money - sometimes it is, sometimes not so much :)
Actually right now there aren't many things to buy for cash anyway, so it certainly isn't due to the revenue (after 3 months I still haven't spent my $20)

You really don't want Dust very bad if you whine about the PC port and don't just go and get a PS3 like the real fanboyz.

That's exactly what I did the very next day after I received the Beta invite few months back. For all of you joining that club I have this message:
1) It's ok to be crap with the PS controller at first.
2) It's ok to go 0/15 in your first (atleast) 10 games.
3) R1 is aim down the sights and it's a good idea make sure you have figured out all the others controls too before giving up :)

As a long time EVE player, for some reason I didn't receive any email whatsoever about a beta and not being a FPS button monkey, (or console junkie), had no idea it was even out. (until an EVE buddy informed me) Thankfully, after digging through a page of Google hits I ran back into CCP/this thread, lol. (so thx to the OP!) If I like it enough I guess my next PS3 purchase will be a kb/m. (tho I'm not holding my breath) I know it's been stated that the full game will support them but can anybody confirm whether or not the beta supports keyboard/mouse input at this time? Thanks!

maybe if you release Dust 514 on the PC then those of us who don't want to expose our personal information to the gaping security holes of PSN, or want to buy another device, would be able to play!

For the love of freaking sanity CCP - have you done ANY market research? PSN exclusive = you're not going to make money off freaking Dust. OPEN IT UP TO THE FREAKING PC.

que no-cd crack, no-drm hack, clipping mode on, ect ect... However.. I agree.. give us PC dudes some love

1) the game is free [so no-cd crack is irrelevant]
2) no-drm would kick them off the server
3) server can detect wall hacks trivially

it's unreal engine.. it has had effective anticheat since.. forever

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

This would be nice if I owned a PS3.
I don't see buying a PS3 just for one game.

A screen with only a big number appears. Any ideas?

Thank you CCP for this opportunity to play Dust. But it is s futile attemp.

I will not be going out to buy a Playstation! This talk of Dust has been going on for 3+ years. What market are you trying to reach? or what market are you trying to keep out1? I know, I know, you've heard it a thousand time, but you should have made this for PCs (and MACs).

There are definetely age groups in EVE that did not grow up on Playstations and we might like playing Dust. However, I did have a son who enjoyed Duke Nukem! ( But he doesn't play EVE, and has no interest in Dust. He and his wife play WOW, 'till the wee hours of the night. You need to reach out at get that type of dedication.

I don't know what your market surveys tell you, but if you are now reaching out to the EVE players to play Dust . . . something just doesn't seem right, somethings wrong somewhere. Two different genres.

Exactly what i was thinking. I know it's not on PC (yet) but atleast we can use M&KB, that accounts for something!

I believe that incomplete Keys are being generated. The one I got for this character was only 12 characters long (not including dashes) and did not work. I tried a couple of other alts and the amount of characters was much longer and they worked fine. Anyone else?

I had the same happen with my main except he had 15 charcters (not including dashes) instead of the 35 my alt had that (eventually) worked

edit: I also put a email into the dust514 address provided many hours ago explaining the problem and my theroy of being given an incomplete code and have yet to hear back....kinda dissapointing and omombous customer service indications especially for an event only lasting the weekend.

I just realized that it skipped the verification code and just gave me PSN voucher. I put it in the PSN netowrk and the original one worked. So i was wrong. It is not giving out bad codes. At least for me.

EDIT: The Code that I thought was incomplete was actually The PSN voucher. It skipped the Verification code. Possibly because I had registered for the game a while back. Oops

And yes I need to learn how to edit a post instead of quoting myself...

So if the verification code fails then It just might be the PSN Voucher.

DEV's Help !

Neither closed beta key , from either of my 2 accounts , appear to be working at this time.
Neither have been used yet.
Any suggestions ?
