Easier to pick up and play brings in more people. Just because they learn faster doesn't mean that they'll be able to auto pop anyone from day one. Adapt or die.

Oh yes the veteran should adapt or die while the spoon fed noobie is in the right. LOL.

Actually vets need to leave, nuubs are far better customers than some vet who has burned through all the content, is bored, complains about stuplid little **** like the shape of a button and is too fking dumb to move on.

The vets make this game.

Without us you don't have nullsec sov warfare, you don't have any high level market manipulation, etc.

The ego is strong with this one.

Next your going to tell us the line about bitter vets are content creators Roll

Lets be real, CCP is losing millions a year in new subs because the vets basically use new customers as fodder to feed their over-inflated egos. On the forums the bitter vets troll any new player they can find with a question.

When CCP needs to modernize the game the vets go nuts complaining.

Eventually the game will be so far behind the market curve it can't get new players, then the bitter vets will leave and CCP will be ******.

Vets are content creators, we create content for the new players to enjoy.

Making the many mechanics of EVE easier to understand and making information more accessible does not equal 'dumbing down' the game. Making the game more accessible is a good thing as it allows more new people to stay. OP everything you listed was not an example of dumbing down the game. An example of dumbing down the game would be removing damage types. Or a little bit closer to reality making Exhumers ungankable in highsec would be a great example of dumbing down the game. Making info easier to see is not an example of dumbing down the game. Now I just need less clicks to see the info I need.

You know what is scary, that was always sort of a tongue in cheek kind of joke for trolling tear threads, but you actually seem to believe it.

Dumbing it down would be changing the mechanics themselves, not making the underlying information more accessible.

The one thing CCP has been doing well (but not doing enough of) is removing pain points for players.

Something as small as calculating optimals, or missile ranges has a ton of utility to thousands of players, with little cost in usability. Likewise, fixing corp bookmarks, something that seems mundane, has improved the game significantly for a lot of players.

Doing dumb stuff like wrecking the UI instead of removing pain points, or launching ambitious WIS projects, which while cutting edge, don't address current user pain, that's not productive. You could argue that stuff dumbs down the game because it levels systems and processes and interactions people have built up over long periods of time.

It's good when Eve removed pain points. We're flying super high tech space ships. We're meant to have computerized weapons calculations at our fingertips. Again, this is the one thing CCP does well, and generally why CCP Karkur and Punkturis are more liked than other Devs, it's because they do the little things that have a huge net positive impact.

It's also why they don't have to hide on the forum. The stuff their doing has a higher net value than the stuff other Devs are working on.

The next pain point I would like to see CCP fix, is how goddamn slow opening cans is. There has been a huge step backwards in speed since Crucible.

Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round.

  • Missile ranges no longer need to be calculated manually.
  • Skills now show what modules and skills training them will unlock.
  • Tutorials now show information far too clearly.
  • There's now a big - and + sign for making your ship start and stop.

Sorry to burst your "smart" bubble - None of the things you listed are necessarily cerebral or are what makes eve what it is. Adversely, making things unnecessarily complex or difficult to understand does not make it cerebral or strategic.

Removing the extra step of an simple explanation isn't going to make someone magically better at PVP or be able to devise a strategy toward a goal, or even have the balls to execute said goal.

It WILL remove lots of doubt about things that should be easily explainable so more people will stick around. It WON'T make those people any better, just less frustrated with something that should not be frustrating to begin with. CCP realizes this.

I always wonder what is so hard about using Google.

You will have to explain how any of this takes away anything from the game... Dumbed down? If we had the technology to build these interstellar spaceships, why wouldn't we have the technology to have our ship's computers do simple and even complex calculations?

Nothing is hard about using google, you elitist moron, but what is the point if we can simply put some of the relevant information in the game?

You should spend more time wondering why you complain about such pointless crap instead of just making up pointless crap to wonder and complain about.
