Intergalactic Summit

To all racing fans and capsuleers that felt the warp racing format had to be brought once again alive,

A new version following the steps of the New Eden Racing Association (NERA) has been in preparation for months and is now ready to take off. That way, it is a great pleasure to announce the launch of the Solaris Racing League. Please keep in mind that the SRL is in no way the official successor of the NERA : it is in fact a wholy independant and brand new league that seeks to retrieve the values cherished either by the NERA or the racers of that time.

In short, the SRL is a series of 12 races set up around the cluster, where the three winners of each race as well as the top three winners of the whole league earn prices and fame for their performances. We of course have the hope to see that new racing iteration proves to be as popular as the last ones through a league with its own special flavor and specialties.

The rules of the league can be found here. Please note that the rules are not definitive and still possible candidates for changes until the public opening.


BETA RACES

The organizer (myself) wishes to see that happening as seamlessly as possible, so the SRL is planning to set up two "beta" races - a standard one and an Afterburner one - to make sure that we all get accustomed again to all the little details that could potentially spoil the experience for everyone, something we seek to avoid.

That way, it is a chance for every racer or interested capsuleer that wants to get a taste of the event to take part for free in test blank races or for veterans to warm up before the real league opens its doors. Everyone interested is of course invited. It is also a chance for people to start forming teams if so they wish for the real opening in half a month.

The first test race is planned for the July 28th (Saturday), 15h Eve Time.

SPONSORSHIP AND SUPPORT STAFF

Even if the league is not taking any sponsor contributions right now, it will still be something possible a few days before the start of the league, after the tests. The league can not offer a lot of visibility for now through its limited means (the IGS or in space mostly) and we apologize for that. We rather prefer a modest and successful start than a spectacular flop.

Every sponsor is considered as long as it is not inflammatory or breaching any of the rules, or the spirit of the league. Political messages are also welcome as long as they stay by the rules. The league in itself is strictly apolitical and in that vein, everyone is welcome to participate.

The league is also looking for possible prospects that could be interested to record on video the incoming events. The league can not sadly offer any substantial payment, but people possessing these skills and having a passion for racing are definitly welcome.

Feel free to ask every question that you would like me to answer regarding the event, or give me any feedback you feel important to point out. As said above the rules are still subject to change until the real opening and all your remarks will be taken into account for a better final experience.

It is good to see this type of entertainment being sponsored as it involves far less death (usually) than the common forms of entertainment often sponsored by capsuleers. I would like to make a correction for your benefit on your rules manual, pages seven and eight use the word "prices" when it should be "prizes" based on the context, you may wish to correct this to avoid confusion. (Unless I am mistaken and the word is used intentionally, at which point I apologize for the misunderstanding).

Uncertainties in the planning combined with uncertainties for the pilots involved compromised the event and prevent it to happen in the best conditions possible.

Is there (or will there be) any report on how the test races went? I am curious about the sport as a spectator, given my past, but I was unable to catch it live on the holo.
