thoughts about the newly changed T1 frigs?

I found the newly changed T1 frigates such as the Slasher to be a lot more useful and generally awesome after today's update.

However it does look rather odd to me that a Slasher with a neutralizer+scram+web+T2 AB is more cap stable than my jaguar What?

Slasher still looks like a flying lawnchair, so I'm still pretty 'meh' about it...

But your Jag does more damage... right?

That aside, I am a little wary of these buffs. It's perhaps made some T1 frigs as good as T2 or Navy frigs... or at least close to them... for a fraction of the cost.

When the time comes I'm sure we will see adjustments made to the faction and T2 vessels as well. Changes geared to make them excel at certain specific tasks.

I sure hope so, because I'm basically ready to sit my Harpy and Slicer in favor of a Merlin and Executioner. The only Navy frig I'll never shelf is my Comet. So pretty... so deadly.

Now that's exactly what everyone wants to see. A much wider variety of ship hulls in common combat usage, which add's multiple levels of complexity in how you fit and fly your ship to deal with them.

I haven't looked at all the specs, but it's not bad to see some frigates other than the rifter getting some love. The rifter will still hold a special place in my heart though. Smile

Adjustments will need to be made along the way. Rome wasn't build in a day (or something like that).

I love how we have Baby Intercepters now (T1 frigs with high scan resolation and prop jam reduction but not the range boost). Maybe next we'll get Baby Bombers (T1 Frigs that shoot torps but no cloak/bomb launcher).

That don't sit well with a concept of T1 frigs being available to young toons - torps are long train, relatively, and don't forget the price. Also, such frigate won't really see much use (little choice of targets while in a hull that doesn't do wee in environement where such targets are met).
But maybe Frigs with cruiser-sized assault (?) missiles will do. Price issues still say though, good HAM launchers are overpriced as heck atm.

Future of T3 cruisers - multi-tool they aspired to be instead of sledgehammer they have become

Pirate ship changes are crap.

Bad enough that they gave them a crappy paint job, then they had to make it worse by altering the sizes.

While the Rifter was probably never meant to be a tackler, it epitomized "every ship is dangerous."
