To begin this thread i am starting it with the purpose of some good information for be
ginner capital production. this is aimed for helping newer players but some more vet input would definitely be appreciated.
First of all you should never actually build a capital component. the minerals would be wasted on such in venture. if you have decent manufacturing skills manufacturing something the size of the battle cruiser in selling it on market would be more beneficial. most capital components can be found on market between 7 and 9,000,000. for the cost of 2 components in minerals you can manufacture a battle cruiser. even selling out right on the market you would be able to afford four capital componetd verses 2 you get manufacture with the same materials. Weather you're buying or mine minerals, to manufacture componets would be a waste of time, isk and mins. and null sec would be the only case for this instance, because you be refining compressed minerals and then manufacturing the actual components. if you're starting out in capital construction, then I would recommend starting out in empire, getting your feet wet first. Placing buy orders fo r components and minerals is anecessity remember that most capa component producers have bpos. if you're still stubborn on building components you have to pay for the bpcs and thats more isk out of your pocket. more to come soon

If your intent is to post a guide, then I'd recommend you work on making it more readable.

Some semblance of accuracy would also be useful.

I shall begin my search for these 7 ISK capital components.

let's take the low number (7m) for cap components.

You need ~150 (on average) for a ME 1 carrier (IIRC, someone pls correct me if this is off -- don't have my spreadsheets @work). Or a cost of 1.05 billion.
Last I checked, I could take the Eve Central averages, and build one from scratch for ~950 million.

Yeah, waste of money indeed.

edit: math fail Oops

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

What im getting at is if you built ships and equip with your mins and sold them, you can buy more componets with the isk made
From the sale of the equip, where if you used the same mins to make componets. yes it is cheaper to build components but you can make more isk off the same mins and buy more components, by manufacturing other items. Look at the minreal cost of a ferox for example. the minreal requirment is lower than the cost of manufacturing two componets. the ferox at min sells for 30 mil, and you can buy 3 cap componets off market. Check that math :)

"First of all you should never actually build a capital component"

How do you build a carrier or dreadnought then ? Should I buy them in Jita and transport them to the location where I would like to build them.

OP, if you are intending this thread to be an informative resource for pilots to use to help with capital production, then you must stop being lazy.

Put some time and effort ( its not that hard ) into typing your comments properly. The laziness is quite evident here, poor sentence structure, no punctuation, wall-of-text format, lazy word truncation, the list goes on.

Some better descriptions of the math you used in your economic reasoning, and some real world examples would go a long way too.

I predict this thread being lost in the forum ether unless these issues are addressed.

Building Capitals (the idiot's method)

For this you will need:
- Capital ship Construction 3+ (skill)
- Supply Chain Management 2+ (skill; optional but very handy)
- Blockade runner and skills to run it
- Some well-researched large weapon BPOs
- researched BPO set or bought BPC kit
- scrapmetal refining 2+ (skill)
- an alt or two with the required skills.

Method:
1) Find out how efficiently you can reprocess modules at your chosen lowsec building station. Standings help.
2) Calculate how much of each mineral you need (there are calculators for this; finding one is left as an exercise for the reader)
3) Calculate how many reprocessed big guns you will need to result in the required amount of minerals. Take into account any reprocessing losses. You can choose to build fewer guns but will have to bring in extra amounts of some minerals.
4) Buy minerals to produce the chosen number of guns, plus any extra minerals you need. Having better researched gun BPOs help here. Build guns somewhere in highsec.
5) Ship capital blueprints, guns and extra minerals to your build site. The blockade runner helps here.
6) Reprocess your guns. Check if the reprocessed minerals, plus any extra you shipped in, is enough to build your capital.
7) Construct capital components. With the blueprints at your construction site you can, with supply chain management skill, start these jobs remotely.
8) Construct your capital.
9) Sell and profit. Rinse and repeat.

Probably the most difficult thing to building capitals is the logistics involved in getting the needed minerals to lowsec because running a freighter full of minerals into a lowsec system will likely end in tears.

If you have a set of component and ship BPOs you could think about putting the ship BPO at your lowsec construction site and keeping the component BPOs in highsec to create BPC sets. The ship will take about 2 weeks to build but the BPO takes 4 weeks to copy while a BPC component kit can be copied inside 2 weeks. With some planning you should be able to turn out a capital every two weeks per ship BPO.

YMMV, HTH

I see what you did here, encourage people to not mess with capital components so you can monopolize the market.....sneaky OP.....sneaky.
