how do you open the socket and keep it open?

since patch I keep getting dis connected and telling me the socket was closed how u keep socket open.

Try putting a fork in it.

Seriouspost: Could be Internet connectivity issues, check to see if your ISP is reporting anything first?
Edit: Also check your router/BB, network, etc.

a socket in networking programming is just a connection between two machines. if it is being closed unexpectedly that means you're having connectivity issues.

what are you using for a connection?

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

I keep getting disconnected from eve and losing access to the forums/game for several minutes. Anything that isn't eveonline.com works fine as normal. Haven't had any connection issues at all until today.

comcast highspeed internet is what I use, it worked fine last night before patch as I was up till late.

I thought my internet was wonky today, since I have had socket closures starting today also.
Maybe it is CCP after all.

yep not my end, xbox live and PSN both have me signed in for over an hour, even played a game over live, can't sit outside station in eve for more then 10 mins without socket magically closing.

I find the best way to keep a socket open is to shove a PVC pipe into it.

Locate socket,
forcefully insert croquet hoop,
enjoy wide open socket as long as needed.

Seriously; eve online client is incredibly sensitive to packet loss. In the past I have had multiple clients open while only one of them had the socket closet error. It has been a few years since I had problems though, but I remember it was incredibly annoying at the time.

Bang face on monitor till socket's open for good, repeat several times, or throw router in microwave for 3 minute's that will fix sockets closing for good.

Just use your mental powers and a bunch of science and force that suckers mind socket open and then keep it there until youve drained them all dry of all their powwa and energy and used it for yourself to get the **** out of this world and laugh at them all on the way out as they try desperately to open your socket as you ignore, insult and **** them all off. Cuz its more fun that way.
