destroying the hulk advantage

The botters an afkers will eventually get hulks redone with Tengu level tank. CCP seem intent on making HS as safe as a warcraft game. :(.
They did it when Jihad was running, boosting concord, an they over reacted again today I think.Still, you can bet that hulks will be redone eventually.. Theres alot of the wow mentality in EVE these days, when they demand "or els" that it isn't fair joey has something they dont have (eg hulk out mining their skiff)

Actually, I measure yield by the amount of ore I actually refine and sell. Sure, each click of a strip miner yields (at most) 8% more than a Mackinaw. But I'm running back to drop off a load every 7 minutes. Let's say that takes 2 minutes to do. So, I lose 22% (2/9ths) of my mining time per load because of a limited hold.

OTOH, a Mackinaw mines 8% slower, but I only run back every 25 minutes, so I only lose 7% (2/27ths) of mining time per load. So, I gain 8% yield and lose 15% on time.

So, the Hulk went from the best solo mining barge to one that's really only "best" when mining with an Orca to hold the ore for you.

I do like the tanky changes, so I think they're good overall, but I was just frustrated having to invest another 275M isk on another mining barge.

Lets see...

The blog came out... no one paid much attention...
The Beta went live on SISI.. I and a few other tested and posted... and posted and warned and posted...

And the rest slept until today... patch day... live change day and NOW you all pay attention and complain...

Too late, it's done... and CCP gave people enough time to chime in, the resources to test... and we "Carebears" where shouted down in the forums by trolls, griefers and so this is the way it went.

Good job community - I can live with the changes but for the prople that can't ...well you get what you didn't bother to do anything about.

Apparently with the barge changes, You believe Mining has become unbalanced. Have you considered another profession, like PvP perhaps or trading? I hear lo-sec gate campers are looking for people.

Not at all, in fact I am finding this a nice change to the old way of mining - I may even grow to like these changes... and even perhaps use barges again...

My complain/admonishment isn't about CCP or the changes, it's about the attitude of the people that fail to notice, fail to test and to do anything other then sit until patch day and then act like this is the first it's been seen or done... rather than acknowledge they are to blame if they don't like it... blogs, test server and all..

If people do not take a hand in this games design feedback loop they have no reason to gripe when it's done... the old saying applies: If you don't make your own future, someone else will"

Oh that might be too tinfoil for me... but there was a serious lack of interest of participation in testing this and talking about it - I think the number of mining forum posters you could count on your fingers...

But I can say for what CCP did its better than it was... provided you had a hulk, Mack and Skiff in the hangar already, the prices are insane now... but will see... but barges are a viable ship with the ASB module now... so...tis what it is.

Hulks are now truly the king of mining to include Ice and Mercoxit
Where before Mack did ice and skiff did Mercoxit
So actually CCP gave you EXACTLY what you want.

the OP should have read the Devblog better
The hulk is still king of the mining vessels
CCP only gave the miner the option to use the others aswell

Hulk --- corp mining ops with 1/2 dozen people or more full orca support and dedicated haulers

Mack-----> for those time you find yourself alone and do not trust your neighbours or sometimeswhen those pesky lowsec or nullsec rats are around

skiff----> for those who still need more tank deep in nullsec or WH or are absolute paranoid about being ganked
