Exhumers question

Will the skill Exhumers still require Astrology V? (post patch)

I'm confused because of the statement (Below) which was on the mining ship changes:

Mining Barges now require Mining Barge level I and Astrogeology level III. Exhumers now require Mining Barge level V and Exhumers level I.

Does this mean Exhumers only require Astrology III? (Just curious because I only have Astrology V left to train and would prefer training other stuff first if I don't need Astrology V for the Exhumers ships).

I do believe they will require Astrogeology 5, but don't quote me. Astrogeology is a prereq for Exhumers 1.

ya the wording is confusing to me. The ship doesn't require Astro V but the Exhumers skill requires Astro V? Doesn't make sense to me lol

I dont see the problem here.

Exhumer ships require the skill exhumers 1 to fly.

The skill Exhumers 1 has prerequisites, just like the majority of skills in eve.

One of the prerequisites for Exhumers 1 is astrogeology V.

So therefore, astrogeology V is required to fly an exhumer.


The only change with this patch is that to fly a hulk no longer needs exhumers III, it now needs exhumers 1.

Thats all.

The profound part is that the covetor and retriever can now be flown with barge level 1

Also to clarify, because of the way the skills system works it is possible to fly an exhummer without astro geo 5 provided you have the exhummer skill. The only case this should happen tho is if you already have exhummers injected and you lose astro geo 5 in a pod accident....but it is possible.

guess now is do i really care to get exhumers after upcoming patch seeing as retriever got a nice buff

The big change is in the Mining Barges. A Covetor will no longer need Mining Barge V, which drops about 20 days from the training pre-reqs.

You no longer need Astrogeology IV for the retriever and covetor which saves you 2-3 days of training.

Just thought I would stick my head in here and ask: Will there be any less training time to fly a Mackinaw/Hulk? Cause I am currently training mining barge 5 which will be the last skill before I can fly a Machinaw(Except Exhumer skill ofcourse).

You will only need Exhumers I to fly any of the tech 2 barges, just as you only need Mining Barge I to fly any of the tech 1 versions.

I think the point is now the Covetor is much easier to gain access too, which is only just below the hulk now. So therefore the new covetor outmines the current Hulk. And which you should be happy to have it as well. And then have a good ship that can still mine alot while you wait on Exhumers skills.

if you want confusing why does the mining barge need industral lv 5? a skill that affects using factorys...
