Watch carefully, you're about to experience a carebear moment.

General Discussion defines a carebear moment as a time when a loss of space pixels overwhelms the mind of an otherwise rational EVE online player causing them to act in an irrational and ultimately self destructive maner.

Miner: GOON YOU GANKED MY HULK
Ganker: I'm not a goon im in nulli
Miner: BRING IT ON GOONIE!
Ganker: U MAD BRO!
Miner: AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

*see any of the posts on the forums about how miner has been griefed*

No matter the trigger of a carebear moment, they all end badly.

Now let's see how a different kind of mindset deals with the carebear moment.

*hulk is mining in belt*
*cut to catalyst*
*catalyst gun fires at hulk*
*hulk does not explode, catalyst concorded*

Miner: YOU GANKED MY -- oh wait a minute, I'm tanked! *Warps out*
Ganker: WHERE ARE YOU GOIN! YOU'RE WASTING A PERFECTLY GOOD OPPOROTUNITY TO THROW YOUR DIGNITY AWAY

Carebear moments are the third most common reason for account unsubscriptions behind incursion nerfs and the free market.

We now know about carebear moments leading players to act in a self destructive and illogical way, but carebears can also form bonds over the loss of space pixels. This is called carebear synthesis. When carebear synthesis meets a carebear moment, you get a complete forum disaster! Remember that equation, you'll need it later.
