Why is ship model scaling so off in game?

When I first started playing, many of the larger ships were physically much larger than others. I have noticed now, for some time, that the models are not scaled correctly when looking at their stats.

ex. 1 The Nyx ( 3250 m ) doesn't look that much larger than a Thanatos (2268 ), but stats for the ship, it should appear much larger in game.

ex. 2 when seeing freighters undock in Jita, they seemed to look much larger before, than now, compared to any other ship undocking from station.

Just wondering if there were any in game changes some tim eback regarding the scaling of the models in game?

Thanks o7

No changes have been made (at least not publicly). It probably has to do with the fact that you're becoming accustomed to the sizes of different ships and are no longer "wow'd" by their bulk.

Now carriers and supercarriers... everyone has made a comment at SOME point about their size. They can store 2 and 5 battleships (respectively) and they look no bigger/bulkier than one. I'm still trying to figure out how my Hyperion fits in there.

often they seem smaller until you are wedged against them. The viewpoint you have is with your cameradrones and your perspective, the tip people often gift is to undock with a ship so you can compare it size directly.

With titans and supercarriers offcourse that is a problem. Also in the past some models where not scaled correctly like the scorpion who was enlarged (and then changed in model). So some other ships may still be over- or undersized.

There are some decent shipcharts outthere though:

like this one.

I prefer this one:

Also, I think that the textures are so low res that the ships seem smaller due to that.

EDIT: There's one exception. The Brutix. It feels just right!

Well, fighters should be 70m long axis... But look at the pilot inside, something's wrong.

Hmm, unless there's quite a bit more to that image that we're not seeing off the edges, I calculate the wing span is maybe 40m at best, judging by the size of the pilot. Though I'm not certain I'm the best judge of these things *shrugs*

Every single ship that can carry assembled ships is way to small for it.
There is no way a Titan can fit several BS into it especially if the hargar would need to be able to fit every possible combination of existing BS. The (super)carrier are of course a lot worse but even outpost are way to small. with the size of even the biggest outpost, a station should not be able to have hangar bays for everything bigger than cruisers and maybe a single BS/Freighter/Orca.

I remember a video from fan fest that said that they are correcting this. When ships get there new skins. AKA Scorp and maller skins. They become the right size. so as ships get skinned they will be the proper size. that's why the scorp looks small to other battleships currently.
