Simple program to keep track of profits and transactions?

Author

Hi,

I've looked in the resources section, and half the programs listed are outdated so much that they still require the old API keys and the other half don't really do what I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a simple tool that can keep track of my transactions and calculate my profits. Perhaps even order items by most profit made, and show profits per week, per day, etc.

Is there anything like that out there?

Yup, EveNexus. Try it, does everything you want.

I just gave it a try and it's exactly what I wanted, but too bad it doesn't show me total profit of everything.

You mean a total profit per product or just daily totals?

For daily totals i just zoom in on the diagrams on the dashboard.

If u want the total profit per unit/total profit u can click on the upper right on the show/hide columns and check mark: total profit per unit/total profit.

I have used EVE NEXUS for a while now and as time has gone on, it has become more and more inaccurate in regards to showing profits. It still shows all my transactions, and the fact that is easily searchable is nice, as I keep it open on a separate screen. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any advice?

I've been using Eve NEAT. It's clearly designed for strict trading, so manufacturing or other forms of income tend to behave weird if you don't know how to properly book them in an out, but it's a pretty decent web based app.

I'll take a peek at that Eve Nexus too, though. Might as well keep my options open.

EVE Mentat is a much better and less buggy Eve Nexus. I filled three crash reports after 5 minutes of using Nexus.

On the other hand Eve NEAT is exactly what I was looking for !

I have had several e-mail from users about this. However nobody who is experiencing this problem seems to be willing to send over their database so I can't really fix it, if I don't know what's going wrong. Perhaps you would be willing to send me a copy?

Always good to get bug reports from my users, but please understand that I get quite a lot of (mostly duplicate) reports. It takes time to process these, find the problem en fix it. Also it might be worth to check out the website. There's a recently been a release containing a few bug fixes.

As a fellow developper, i'm always happy to fill in crash reports. I'm sure it will get fixed. Those were with the version downloaded yesterday from your website. Anyhow, keep up the good work, that wasn't meant to discourage you in your tools development, far from it.

It just so happens that EVE nexus doesn't really add anything more that I didn't have from EVE Mentat, so I guess I'll stick to that.

Not sure what DI stands for, but I installed EveNexus 0.1.18 in a virtual machine running AVG 2012 (Free version), and it didn't find any virus in it.

That website for Eve Profit is great, although it still has a hard time matching up some items and shows losses when their should be profits. Only real issue is using periods instead of commas, drives me crazy. For example on Eve Profit 1,000,000 shows as 1.000.000. Maddening.

Ren,
I am happy to send you a database dump if you could walk me through the process.

is EveNexus a stand-alone install so that I give my full API to no one but me myself and I or is there any secret (or not secret) function that uploads them into a devilish db? It should be written in bold capital letters in the FAQ, but since there is no such a FAQ I presume there is not such a problem, but it's better to ask twice than to be screwed once.

btw, are the other tools such as eve-profit and eveneat safe about the api management?

Well NEAT is web based, so I can't be sure how they handle the API information, unfortunately. I'm taking the risk because the tool itself is pretty handy (and I can watch my profits come in from work, which is nice), I'm not worth enough isk to bother with, yet, and I'm honestly not that concerned if someone finds out my source of income. It's too low profit for most trader's attention, requires leaving the station, and takes up far too many trade slots for the return on investment. I just stick with it because it's basically the least time consuming set of items I could find, requires little to no research to compete, and it leaves me with time to putz around in other ventures, like manufacturing, PI (Though PI is beginning to be more trouble than it's worth...), and Mining.

Well allow me to answer that for you. No EveNexus doesn't have a secret phone-home function giving me access you all your trades. Plain and simple. I don't even want to know what you do. EveNexus was developed for my own use initially and has gradually been exposed to EVE's own userbase. The only function which publishes data in EveNexus to the internet is the bug reporter. Which allows users with crashes to report them (along with a logfile not containing any API key or transaction information) to GitHub so that I can examine the crash. But note that this only happens when the user explicitly wants to report a crash. This is certainly not done automatically.

If you're still not convinced, you can take a look at the source code (which is open) and examine it yourself, at https://github.com/michaeldejong/EveNexus
