The mechanics of alliances

Could someone share a little light on the mechanics involved with running and administration of alliances. I am very familiar with how this works on a corporate level with CEOs, shares votes and so, but am lost on alliance level mechanics. In particular:-

- What is the significance of the executor corporation?
- What is the significance of being the CEO or a director of the executor corporation?
- I'm pretty sure I have seen alliances without executor corporations, how does this work? (or do I need my eyes tested>).
- What are the pro's and con's of using holding corporations

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

- What is the significance of the executor corporation?

+ The executor corporation can manage all alliance specific stuff (standing, paying bills etc) AFAIK.

- What is the significance of being the CEO or a director of the executor corporation?

+ Actually the CEO of an executor corp is also the "CEO" of the entire alliance, I don't know if director roles mean you can also manage the alliance though.

- I'm pretty sure I have seen alliances without executor corporations, how does this work? (or do I need my eyes tested>).

+ Each member has to declare support for any corp in alliance, if the majority chooses 1 corp that will become the executor corp. If all members choose a different corp then there will be no executor corp so the alliance is more or less without rulers, it can happen when for instance the current exec. corp. isn't doing their job properly and the other corps choose to drop support. Whenever 1 corp gets more then 51% of the support they will be elected as "new" executor corp.

- What are the pro's and con's of using holding corporations

+ Pro's of using a holding corp:
* Usually every corp in alliance can place 1 (or more) alt characters in there to help manage the alliance, so no more 1 corp dictating the alliance stuff. The holding corp is made out of all alliance corps so will act on the entire alliance's opinion.
* Usually it's more easy for other corps to get to look in the status the alliance is in (wallet size, standings etc).
* If using roles right, the holding corp is also a bit more secure in relation to alliance theft.

+ Con's of using holding corp:
* You have to make an alt char and also take a bit of time (1 day or so) to make the holding corp.
* You from time to time have to take a bit of time to log in that alt to check the alliance.

This is what I can think of for the moment, I'm sure there is much more to tell about this.
