How are we expected to solo pvp vs shieldtanked ships with these new ASB's

What ASB's do, is they extend the engagement length, thereby allowing backup to alter the fight's outcome.

Which = bad for solo PvP

And the other argument I'm seeing: Armor is good for fleet engagements, so to compensate, we're making an OP module for solo PvP, so that solo PvP is easily tanked and they turn back into fleet engagements of lopsided curb stomps

given how bad armor reppers compare to normal shield boosters, AARs may be a horrible idea...
plus; it would destroy the difference between armor & shield.
i'd rather see a completly different mechanic implemented for armor tanks.
maybe modules which can do one of the following things:

- throw a certain amount of dmg done by laser weapons back at the attacker
- convert a certain amount of dmg done by hybrid weapons into a smart bomb like explosion damaging all drones next to the attacked ship
- redirects every, dunno, 15th missile at a hostile target (whould do good against drake blobs ^^)
- a randomly changing amount of projectile turret hits gets redirected at another randomly chosen target.

or other creative things.

I am wondering that the Vaga did not have any Neut fitted... with a neutralizer we would have escaped sooner or later.
Anyway, every form of active tanking has the benefit that in the best case for the victim he is able to completely tank all incomming damage. With regards to this anciliary shield booster are not a problem at all, because at some point in time he would run out of cap boosters. But have you ever thought about the possibility that he maybe was using just a normal shield booster and was running the old-fashioned cap reacharge based active tank? In this case he would be able to tank you for ever. You where flying a frigate and doing how much damage? 100 dps max. Now take vagas weakest resists for kinetic which is 40%, this results in remaining damage of 60 dps. And 60 dps are easy doable with every well fitted cap-based active tank.

Dual ASB is VERY overpowered. As much as I enjoy watching my friends abuse it and tank a small fleet, I've developed ASB builds that can tank the full DPS of multiple sieged dreads until their boosters run out.

So basically before ASB hit TQ armour and shield were the same, right? What?

no there were not the same, either mechanically nor balanced. but making AARs is not the way to go.
