Since 2007 I've been playing eve online and I've always paid through credit card directly to CCP.

Relatively recently with the launch of the new localized eve client, apparently ccp felt that there were not enough third party *snip* going on, so they teamed up with a korean company known for being worthless: Nexon.

This is now the only payment method for people playing with a Japanese IP who have ever played with a Japanese IP (since the nexon partnership), regardless of nationality. Took a vacation to japan and need to renew your account? How about just over here for a 1 year student exchange, or business or job opportunity, or stationed with the military - too bad - you cannot pay by any other method for plex or account time except for Nexon Points.

Now you must make another account with the third party, and possibly a 4th party, and go through the billing process completely in japanese, because there are no other language options. Dont get me wrong, I can speak Japanese, and read quite a bit, but not many people can read enough kanji to trust you are going to get what you pay for (or what you think you are paying for) as you click next/next/agree/next. To make matters worse, in your account screen, CCPs "guide" and info about this change is completely in Japanese as well.

About the only thing that's halfway working on their terrible site is their Nexon avatar: geez, look at my awesome options!

So basically I'm stuck, either i go through with nexon (which i won't) or say **** it. Honestly I'll keep my dignity if it comes to that.

EDIT: Word filter evasion is a no no, filtered word removed - ISD Type40.

Edit: if you have this problem, petition. CCP does make exceptions, particularly for non natives. Still, the players of Japan deserve the same options as everyone else, fix this horrible mess.

They got it better off over there then here.

Can't you buy plex from CCP (or other sites)? I know it is more expensive (but they had a deal going recently for 2/8 PLEX @15). Anyway, it sucks to be forced dealing with companies you don't like. And that avatar doesn't really get you into your EVE mode.

In Australia we often get shafted by GeoIP blocking, distributors jack up the prices because our economy isnt tanking.

Sometimes you have to use a free proxy like hidemyass to make your purchase to trick the distributor into thinking your from somewhere else.

Not sure what EVE's TOS would say about this.

Try talking with CCP support.

When the switchover happened, there were other people talking about this, and I believe they got to route their payment a different way?

If you do some searchs for NEXON you'll probably find it.

I live in Korea and have no issues but I will say, LAME.

This worked for me in Korea when I wanted to use Netflix.
