Titans are the new noobship. Doesn't everyone in goons own one already? My vision is a ship so powerful it would have to be destroyed asap. Would be nice to finally have real war in eve.

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.

Thx for the sarcasm. In my opinion it would attract the kind of player that is goal oriented and lasts in eve. Major projects fill people with pride and dedication even if they have no direct hand in the project themselves. People need a feeling of belonging. They search to be part of something bigger. Why do we build things like Burj Dubai. Why were the empire state building or the Eiffel tower built? All are mad for their time. All fill an entire nation with pride and identity. Eve is no different. An alliance would build one just for the propaganda value of building one even without the strategic benefit.

The thing is, with WiS still under development and the whole "Micro-sites" concept where players can dock up and walk about...

How do you create a small environment (so you don't need to make the system stations into explorable areas) for players to interract in where you can limit access, set it up for a range of functions and in effect create small instanced areas which would probably be better on the cpu's/hamsters...

someone mentioned T3 modularisation earlier. Have a basic station (with corresponding docking area and interior) plus have it expandable by bolting on additional "rooms" in the form of modules. the exterior and interior will change to correspond with the changes made, you can limit the number of modules to 1 of each type (so limit also the size and generic layout of the interior) i.e. one medical bay, one research lab, one factory etc. (though different qualities give better bonuses etc)...

...and players have a WiS environment they can open up to the public, limit to corp members or keep as their own private haven.

Want to destroy it? How about using the hacking/analyzing tools we have for ships (and expand upon them) to get your ship inside the docking bay. walk through to the Warp engine area then take control of it over time and offline the warp/jump capabilities or go to the science lab and take out the cloak, the weapons platform control, the shield generators etc....

I can also imagine all the corp chatting away in the lounge, the lights flashing red and all the avatars legging it to the docking bay if the station came under attack... :)

Plus, I don't want to leave the captains quarters in Jita 4-4 anyway, who would want to walk about breathing in the contaminated atmosphere from all the non-pod pilots, mudsiders and other scum? :)

if stations become destructable a mothership could probably be interesting.
if its t3 dying in one should really really cost you some sp but it needs risk/reward ratio...we dont need just "another" cap ship...eve is full of those...it should be something new and out of the box for it to be any point to it.

edit: heres an idea why not have it be able to anchor/create a wormhole? but have timer ....imagine having a wh from your main base and be able to tunnel your swarm straight into the heart of enemy land in one jump...until the mass limit is met and it collapse?

I love this force projection idea.

How much range will it have? What are the costs of opening this wormhole?

I assume it can be used to drop people into cynojammed systems (like the covert jump bridge). Does it not even need something like a cyno on the opposite side? Amazing.

Well if you jump though enough people that it closes, what's the problem.

Besides,, suppose the enemy cross jumps. In comes half a fleet of subcaps into your blob of titans. Whatever will the titans do....

I can envision a mobile platform similar to the Death Star from Star Wars.

This station has a huge gun powerful enough to destroy a planet. So if Dust players worry about bombardment, wait until the whole battleground is destroyed. Twisted But to keep this reasonable, either this gun requires such a huge amount of fuel to ignite it or materials so rare that if actually found, then would not go to waste on something frivolous. A lesser amount of fuel or a different material to destroy titans.

And would have batteries to target many of the large ships in the game. But would be quite difficult, if not impossible, to target cruisers and frigates a.k.a. X-Wing fighters. These same ships could potentially reach this station's weak points to immobize or destroy it outright. Not a one shot wonder, but many, many weak points.

This station crawls through a solar system and should take days, if not weeks, to travel across many of them.

Somehow have numerous players controlling this station simultaneously, being in charge of one of the many crucial aspects to keep this station going. So no one player "stealing" this from a corp and running away with it.

Quite skill intensive to operate, and a very long time to build - give the old, old, old players something to work towards.

Just a thought after reading this thread.

it could lead to some interesting things like you could pre crash the wh to stop the fleet from comming...

or you could sneak a cyno ship threw and hot drop the titans...
