Question about increasing sec status

I am working on trying to increase my sec status by running L4's with an alt. Have a few questions about sec status increases.

If the alt and this char attack the same NPC ship and it's destroyed, who gets the sec status increase?
Is it shared equally no matter how much dmg is done by either party?
Is it given to the char who laid the final blow?
Does a char actually have to fire a shot to be awarded? or can being on grid be enough to gain a increase?

This char isn't fully trained enough to do L4's solo so I need to run them with my alt. My alt can blitz L4's with ease. I
m just wondering how sec status increase works with multiple chars.

Both get the full sec boost.

I'm not sure about this, I've heard in fleet and on-grid gets the sec boost, but in my personal experience with incursions, you need to do some offensive action to get it.

You must be in fleet, on-grid, and aggress the NPC in some way, I believe. When grinding sec with friends we'd always have to get everyone on grid and having shot the BS once to get sec shared.

I know its a bit late for the reply, but thanks for the info. I have been working L4 missions with my main alt and got my sec up better then it was.

Over 5 missions I went from -3.32 to -2.9. As my main alt already has sec of 5.0, he can't increase his sec status any further. I think this char got all the sec status increases. My average increase was 0.22% every 15 mins while missioning (fast talk L4).

Should be just a dozen more missions and I should have no problem getting into .9 and 1.0 space. I believe with -2.9 I can get into 0.8 now.
