The Purifier - Are Stealth Bombers worth anything in FW?

Hello all!

Up until now I've stuck mostly to my Interceptors, but after seeing the in-game model of the Purifier and falling in love with it's aesthetics, I'm curious how well they work in Factional Warfare PVP! Can anyone suggest a good fitting I might try for one, as well as tips to help me transition between the playstyles?

Yeah, I've had good luck with bombers in the FW areas.

I think Bombers should have great potential with all the plex farmers at the moment.

Bombers take a good bit of practice to learn to use properly. However, they can be incredibly effective, especially if you're running with a gang. Add one bomber to a 4 man frig/AF gang and you can take down sizable targets that would have been quite risky otherwise. A solo bomber is also very effective at murdering the sniping tier 3 battlecruisers that have become fairly popular. Decloak, point/orbit/fire torps, and then bug out before their fleet can warp in. It generally only takes around 3 volleys to drop one. Also, a rocket and turret fit bomber with a long point and webs is just about the best thing ever for killing enemy bombers doing missions or plexing, which you do come across more often than you'd think.

The main thing though is to remember that small hulls are very popular in FW, which is going to limit your target selection by a lot. Flying with a gang, even a small one, is going to be extremely helpful. And you will be invaluable should they come across a T2 cruiser, battlecruiser, or especially battleships that they want to try and take down. I've been top damage on more than a few of those types of kills with my bomber in our frig gangs.

As for fitting, here's one that I use to solo with my Purifier:

[Purifier, PSolo1]
Ballistic Control System II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Warp Disruptor II
1MN MicroWarpdrive II
Small Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 75

Covert Ops Cloaking Device II

And here's the gang version:

[Purifier, PGang1]
Ballistic Control System II
Co-Processor II

You can solo Tier 2 BCs like the Hurricane and Harbinger as well. I usually do it with Manticores, but the Purifier theoretically works better because of it's higher Exp resist.

Well yes it's just the tier 3s are perfectly suited to be bomber food. Battlecruiser size hull, frigate size tank.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I really appreciate the feedback. Will definitely be trying one of these out soon.

What about fitting actual bomb launchers?

Are they worth anything at all? Maybe for breaking up some of the BC/T3 gate camps?

Or are they too situational to fit?

The fit above, with launcher rigging IV skill, can fit on a Bomb Launcher I in that empty high slot with no implants.

Would it be useful to carry, for that just on case moment?

Well, bombs can't be used in low sec, so that knocks their utility pretty hard as far as FW goes. But if you want to venture into null/WH they definitely have uses.

Thanks, didn't realise they weren't usable at all in low sec.

Also they are very useful for the higher level FW missions when all you need to do is destroy some industrials or a BS

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.
