Hey all,

Back from a year long hiatus, and I'm shocked to find that with all the pretties turned on, I used to get 100+ on my frame-rate and I'm now only getting... 15 or so.

I'm not really understanding why this might be. I hardly have a weak system:
4x 3.0ghz (Phenom II X4)
4gb DDR2 1066
nvidia 460 GTX (1gb)
... other stuff that doesn't matter

Anyone have any ideas why this might be? Other things run just the same as always, so I don't expect my hardware to be underperforming compared to previously. Was Inferno really that much of a jump on requirements!? Crucible played like butter.

Noticed same thing. Was small improvement when they did the database upgrade but eve has a lot of lag imo. Not client side. Buttons go slow. Undocking is slow. Opening new windows is slow.

Not what I'm talking about, no latency issues here. Pure frame rate suckage.

If you run Xfire, close it. Something is screwy with it today/yesterday

Resident Haruhiist since December 2008.

Laying claim to Out of Pod Experience since 2007, plain and simple. Keep the trash out of Out Of Pod Experience, If it's EVE Related or deserves a Lock, it does not belong here.

No latency problwm here. No frame rate either. Eve is just less responsive then i remember.

I've got no overlays or anything either. Well, I certainly did test with them all disabled.

Have to fiddle around with it some more later.

Can anyone else with an nvidia card sanity check me by telling me you get decent performance on maximal settings with equivalent hardware?

have you updated your drivers.

plus.. new missile effects = gpu particles = potential drain if you have a driver/card issue.

are you firing ze missiles?

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Current drivers installed (301.42) and flying around with only my ship on the grid. No modules active, either.

If this indicates anything, captains quarters runs like garbage even with both the interior settings set to Low. If I turn "load station environments" off, the UI runs fast as usual - so it's definitely something with the 3D rendering.

I'm going to try a couple things and see if I can't narrow down a particular setting at cause. I did make sure I don't have ambient occlusion enabled via drivers. It runs better, but still slow, if I disable anti-aliasing.

I'm running dual 460s and am pretty much pegged at 60 with dual monitors on a 3840x1080 resolution, everything on max.

There was a bug a while back that could drop your framerate super slow, then later it would be ok. I don't know if it was EvE or drivers; just got better one day.

I'm an American, English is my second language...

... i think I must have been experiencing that same bug, because when I start up the game today, it works just fine.

I didn't even reboot or anything. The only thing that happened between my last attempt and now was my RDP'ing in from work to grab a file.

Well, thank you all for scratching your heads with me. Ugh

I have the 450 (technically just a bit lower... I think) and a 2 year old duel core at 2.6 and get 60fps almost all the time (capped at 60 because I have no need for it to be higher).

Maybe you have some stuff that is taking a large amount of resources? Check task manager while EVE is running and see what is using the most ram/processor.

Also, is you card running at reasonable temps? It may be overheating due to a well known and commonly reported (and continually unfixed for 3 years) bug in the fan control.

Checked all that :)

Hell I even turned off my UHF gear just in case it might have been causing a bellyache.

Problems solved itself as randomly as it caused itself, so no sense headscratching anymore.

This. It's garbage performance, but then what does anyone expect from Devs who don't actually know how to play the game?

Hi,

not sure it was the same, but if i leave my client open and go afk for 30-40mins, eve gets completely laggy and restarting the client does not help, have to do a reboot. Weird is that only eve gets slow, other apps/games work fine. Not sure what is causing this, but nowadays i just close the client(s).

I am not old, just bitter.
