Found this at extremetech...

http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/133824-valve-opengl-is-faster-than-directx-even-on-windows

excerpt

"The V**** Linux Team breaks it down on their shiny new blog: With an Nvidia GTX 680, Intel i7-3930k, and 32GB of RAM, Windows 7 and DirectX, Left 4 Dead 2 maxes out at 270.6 fps. With the same hardware, but different software — Ubuntu 12.04 and OpenGL — L4D2 scores 315 fps, almost 20% faster than Windows."

more

"With GN's distaste for Windows 8 (and Bl*****d echoing his sentiments), the imminent release of S**** on Linux, and the continued growth of smartphone games, we could be on the cusp of an OpenGL revolution.

Wonder if any CCP devs have an opinion on this article or the events surrounding it?

Thanks,
Kron

Well with W8 we get rid of Nokia and MS.

And the world will be better place Big smile

There are two major PC dealers that are planning to skip W8 and start selling their PC's with Ubuntu. Oh and intel, amd and nvidia are all go for this. They just need the word from major PC dealers and it's good bye MS.

It is actually quite interesting since even Nokia thought that they are unbeatable. And they just kept releasing **** called symbian. And what now? Apple and Samsung have sold over 100 million their top line smartphones while Nokia has sold about 4 million.

MS is doing the same thing. They think that nothing can beat them.

But reality is that if games become available for two major linux branches, red hat and debian, MS is gone.

Why?

Because nobody wants to pay from OS at these days. They do not care what OS they have. OS is just a platform. Many of us has been forced to use MS just because games are made for it.

Google might throw in PC version of Android, and now, that, would be killer. Since gaming industry is already on high gear making games for android.

I would really love to see that Valve would design their product to work in red hat and debian. Because by that they would work in all distros that are based on those two giants. Like Ubuntu is based on Debian. Fedora on Redhat and so on.

Oh, did I say that W8 is ****?

IT IS!

We got the RMT and its pure... ****!
