New Player - Solo Piracy

Morning Guys and Gals 0/

After seeing a friend play EVE I liked the look of it and have decided to give it a go. I have always been a big fan of PVP and the idea of being an outlaw in MMO's. I have done the personality analysis test of the website, and it has said I would be suited for piracy.

Is it possible to make it on your own as a pirate in low sec? If so, what ships should I aim to be getting in to over the next 6 months for both on and off station/stargate grid.

Many thanks.

I would suggest you have a look at what best suited to your type of play.

Auto ignore anybody that only replies with just.... Minmatarr.

Once you know what you like and how you like to play or fly. Then check or ask what type of ships fit that kind of play.

It is more than possible however going it alone requires patience and resources. I would recommend trying to find a pirate corp to join. Or possibly RvB for elememtary pvp experience which will prove invaluable. In the end Eve is all about trial and error, luck and brawn.

If you want my true take on it get two accounts. Low sec tends to be quiet depending on which region and being self sufficient is key. No one is going to hold your hand and many grimy old bastards in the criminal aspects of Eve are too tired to give a ****. But I degress.

Running lvl 5's on two accounts tends to make great isk if you are smart. Yarr by day carebear by night. Any "Pirate" that claims they dont do some form of carebear or passive income is lying through their teeth. Gotta pay the bills right?

As far as ships go fo the tried and true hurricane. If you want some more flare a Talos will tear things apart if flown right (especially with loki boosts).

Just realize it will take time but also dont be a pussy. Go out there make mistakes and have fun. Oh and those big null sec alliances you keep hearing about? Screw em. Hitting F1 with 100 other pilots at your back is hardly skill and quite mind numbing. Be a real man and harass them and take their ****.

God speed.

Go whatever you think looks cool. It is possible to make it on your own as a pirate but you can always join a pirate corp.

Heared about pirates corps that joined fw so they earn ISk from loot and LP.

For the sentry-"issue":

i think an okish tanked battlecruiser will last long enough to fight under sentry fire.

Is it actually possible to run level 5s with 2 accounts? People in the mission channel keep saying you need capital ships?

I am thinking about getting a second account on the go for a scout at least anyway.

I used to enjoy ratting in low-sec using a Cloaking Tengu. When someone else joins local just cloak up and hope they are there to rat as well. If they are you can approach unseen and they don't typically realize you are there until the HAMs are landing. Great fun.

Going to start that again this week as a matter of fact.

Good luck,

Solo pvp is dead

You are going to need a loki
Guardians on your alts
A cyno rapier alt
A falcon alt
And you need your alliance sitting at a titan in range

Two Remote repping/cap chaining domis can do most l5s with ease.

As for solo pvp, join the millita and go run around in a thrasher or something. Otherwise your always gona blobbed unless you have a booster loki and something that can kite well.

I'm not really a fan of blobbing.. I would much rather try to stick to 1 v 1's or fights that require more skill than getting 8 people to kill an industrial ship.

What about the route of high sec PVP - such as attacking another high sec corporation. Is there much down side to that?

Thank you all for your time in sharing this information with me.

For highsec PVP, it depends on who your fighting; If you dec the right people, you could get plenty of lol tastic kills out of it . However almost every lowsec reject highsec wanabe pvper who has half a brain will have a neutral RR alt. Your best bet would be to check peoples killboards before war decing them, paying esppecailly attention to losses that have taken an absurd amount of damage (EG: hurricane takeing 70,000 damage). If you do create an alt, it would be worth training him into a domi with neutral reps on it (it shouldn't take too long). I personally hate highsec PvP because it usually boils down into a game of "Who has the most neutral rep alts".

One piece of advice, while solo play is always possible, EVE is so much more fun if you can find a good corp. There are lots of pirate corps out there, not only will it make the game more social, but it will give you the opportunity to learn from veterans. EVE has a pretty steep learning curve so having people to fly with and learn from is always a plus. I have tried the solo route and I have always found that while it can be fun for a time, you burn out a lot quicker, in this or any other MMO.

You could try highsec piracy. Join a naive corp, hold a member flying a shiny toy hostage, collect random or kill. I'm up to 1.6 billion and I have 2 orca kills, 2 pods, 1 hulk, 1 rattlesnake, 1 dominix navy issue, and 1 drake (I would have a second drake, but concord got him before I could).

I almost nabbed a freighter a few days ago, but misjudged his flight path.

It's great fun. Lots of tears to be collected.

Get a stack of rifters/merlins/punishers/incursii, fit them up and go explode everything you find.

When those are gone work your way into AF's and BC's. These are the bread and butter of low sec pvp.

Also join a chat channel that of like minded individuals in your area. Most pirate corps have public channels and even if you arn't going to join they are great places to learn more about pvp and get intel on pilots in the area.

And read this:

christ what has come over C&P these days

while multiboxing makes things easier it is by no means a requirement for successful solo piracy.

what is required is that you have a character besides your main that can fly a hualing ship, preferably cloaky. with black frog logistics its not necessary but nearly every solo pirate has a hualer.

lvl 5's are good isk but you would be stupid to run them with any setup if you don't have friends around. And don't listen to fail pirate up there, after losses I net about 200mil a month (max depending how much i am playing) from ransoms, drops and having a salvager nearby all from solo pew. (not common, but again its possible)

to answer your question. Off the gate: frig hulls in their many shapes and sizes. navy, pirate have fallen out of grace but t1 and t2 are doing superb atm.

On the gate/station: there are some trade secrets here, but a popular one are blap tornadoes (any sniping ship really). Really your options will be limited here when your talking about true solo.

I has all the eve inactivity

Honestly, try them all. T1 cruiser are great, frigs are always fun, once you have solid income you can roam in BCs.

As for being a pirate, Im always glad to help new guys get on their feet in the pirate world.

I'm back!
