I'd love to pay for a name change. I'm sure this has been suggested before though, so I'd just like to hear why it isn't available/possible...

Great idea...

What this would mean:


A way to avoid Kill RIghts

A way to scam a corp or alliance and be able to do it over and over

A way to leave behind terrible killboard stats

A way to act even more like a ass and get away with it

A way to... you know what you get the idea.... BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD puppy!

No. It's not about paying for a name change... if this wasn't such a terrible idea I'm sure we could do it for free. You have to live with the consequences of what you do in EvE, for better or worse. That's a founding principal of the game, and why name changes will never be possible unless you are forced to change it for offensiveness or if you are trying to imitate another player.

Signatures should be used responsibly...

It's easy to change your name. Character Bazaar or Biomass.

Don't worry. There will come a point where PvPing on your main account will be punished severely with the clone upgrade mechanic, forcing you to create an alt. You can name the alt something new.

Wouldn't be a horrible thing if
A: old names are on the character sheet like ex corps.
B: looking for old name will provide you with characters new name.

Um... Some of this may be true, but others easily false. Simply code an ID number to a player. The ID and any past names would be included in full api info. Kill rights would also be linked to the ID, not the name as would killboard stats.

Scanning would still be possible if people weren't careful, but other aspects would not change.

And it's not like our current society prevents name changes.

Honestly, charge a plex per name change and help ccp out a little.

I do pity the guys who start at Age 14 with a name like 'killahXXXmurder' and go on to become a respectable adult and EVE player. Why not give them a second chance?

Luckily I picked exquisite names for all the 16 characters I ever created. Some of them I was reluctant to biomass/unsubscribe just because of their names Sad

I wouldn't mind if my main eve name was still recorded on my show info. And it more like getting a name change in real life. You can't escape your past.
