I think i stopped just before the much-talked walking in station was implemented and upon returning quickly switched from that to a spinning capable screen (there's a counter now lol).

well then you have been gone for about 2 years, not just 1 year.

And just because when you logged in and there were only 30K people on doesnt mean anything. I regularly see 50K= on the weekends when I log in.

I'm sorry if there was a post explaining this phenomenon, if you could link me to it I would gladly have a read.

It is called selective memory. Objective data suggest otherwise. Also. It is summer.

On the All Time Weekly chart, there's a huge drop to almost 0 right in the middle. I guess that would be in 2007-2008. What was that? Was the server down for a week or so?

CCP are trying to turn EVE mainstream so they have to cater to the "wider audience" eg wow players...

I must not know how to read graphs, because my own observation matches the OP's: I would see about 60K online at any given time before the Aurum store disaster. Now I see about 30-35K (at least during the imtes I play). And if it's 35K, it won't be for long. It'll drop down to 28K within an hour of loggin on. But I play some weird hours due to my work schedule.

Also, another factor that has made it appear barren was H5. During H5 the belts were like a freaking ghost town. They have not recovered, at least in the systems/belts that we call home. The online numbers are not changed though, so I think that players who used to be in the belts, are "elsewhere". Some phenomenon like this may be what you are seeing.

Hi, i took a break from eve over a year ago and just recently resubed again to get my eve fix Big smile

So I log in and first thing i notice is lack of players. The server stats show that only 30k-35k players are regularly on the server. Which is poor considering just a year ago youd get 50k-60k odd at peak times. Easy to notice that the systems are equally deserted when compared to last years.

I would have thought that with new changes (cheaper sub fee, new bc tier 3 ships) EVE would only attract more players, but it looks like the game is definitely getting much quieter than it used to be, so what could have caused this? What made you stop playing EVE?

I'm sorry if there was a post explaining this phenomenon, if you could link me to it I would gladly have a read.

Cheers

Its summer and eve is still recovering from Hilmar telling the player base to **** off, some of us have come back, a lot of us have only brought 1 of several chars back until CCP proves inferno like expansions are not a 1 time event, and the next Incarna fiasco is just hiding around the corner.

CCP cater to the majority mate, an the majority are wow generation when they cry CCP listens, sadly. The game is not what it once was, an it's only going to get worse.
