Actually CCP ran some commercials on SYFY (SCIFI) during season 4 of BSG but that was a couple years ago. Guess it was shot in the dark attempt to market the game to the sci-fi audience.

CCP cater to the majority mate, an the majority are wow generation when they cry CCP listens, sadly. The game is not what it once was, an it's only going to get worse.

So I log in and first thing i notice is lack of players. The server stats show that only 30k-35k players are regularly on the server. Which is poor considering just a year ago youd get 50k-60k odd at peak times. Easy to notice that the systems are equally deserted when compared to last years.

I would have thought that with new changes (cheaper sub fee, new bc tier 3 ships) EVE would only attract more players, but it looks like the game is definitely getting much quieter than it used to be, so what could have caused this? What made you stop playing EVE?

I'm sorry if there was a post explaining this phenomenon, if you could link me to it I would gladly have a read.

You don't have to speculate about usage. Go to this link and you'll see usage history for several years. Eve is flat in terms of usage, not declining. There are occasional ups but the lowest level of usage is pretty steady.

Site was recently revised so that the "history" graph at bottom reads from left to right; used to read from right to left, and fooled me into thinking Eve was in decline. That's not the case.

It's only summer in half the world, you know.

Shh.

It's so much easier for people to start these threads based on "it feels like" or "it seems I've noticed" than to present actual facts.

To be fair, those numbers do not necessarily tell the true story either. EVE could lose 20k active pvpers and gain 30k miners and mission runners. Usage numbers would be way up, but to a player looking for active pvpers the game would feel deserted.

Though, as I said, I personally think it's rather the other way round, which is good.

1st: summer

Also: find a girlfriend, throw it in your bed and have fun playing with instead of pixels.
You'll see, that makes wonders to a man mental health and to girls physical condition. Both are happier, have a much better looking and actually start taking showers, smell better etc.

You should try it out Lol

Summer. Before the summer pretty much every day there were ~50k people online all day long. Tons and tons of people are on Holiday right now. Check back in September.
