Average number of alts per player increasing?

I don't know if it's just me and the people I know, but barely anyone has a single account anymore, or even two... or three. I'm on the low end with 5 it seems, and I know several people who are well into double figures.

Is anyone else noticing the same? EVE seems to have less real players, but the ones that remain all have their own personal army.

I know a ton of people who only have 1 account, but they don't play very often. Anyone who is serious about spaceships online has at least 2 accounts.

Played for 3 years, only ever had one.

I have had plenty of characters however - think I just like the creator...

Same here... I have two alts on this one, though... just to try out ships and stuff.

Very noble.

IMO the alt proliferation marginalises the value of new or newish players, but there's not really any solution to that - just an observation. It would have to be an action on the part of the playerbase in general to reverse the trend as CCP can't just "nerf alts". Even so, there's no guarantee that any "new player" is not simply the alt of your hated enemy trying to stab you in the back.

They released this back in 2010 , the average accounts per person is 1.2 , higher than any other mmos on the market.

I've had 2 accounts pretty much from the beginning and that's enough. Most of those I know have 2 accounts as well. I know a few who have upwards of 4-5 but many others who have just 1. I'm inclined to say the average is around 2 in my area. On those two accounts, I have all 6 character slots filled. 2 are "real" characters while the other 4 are nothing more than cyno alts.

1 account player, i think people who have more are being antisocial, make friends not alt accounts.

Eve offers so many things to do you need multiple accounts if you want to do them all. Jump clones could help in some areas but then you have to worry about the 24 hour timer

24 alts here -- actually this character is technically an alt, my Main main (oldest character) is on a currently inactive account. I have an assortment of accounts I cycle through and play. When I'm bored with one, I reactivate another. Once in a great while I'll have two accounts active at the same time but it's not really sensible economically to do that all the time - for me anyways.
[edit] I forgot to count the Trial accounts that I have kept the logins for but haven't actually got around to officially activate yet... add another 12 alts...LOL
