Incursions - Any T1 shield ships viable?

I fancy trying some incursions but don't have the skills for T2 ships and not sure I want to commit that amount of isk anyway until I know I enjoy them. I see shield fleets more often than armour in incursion chat so I guess that would be a better role to go for.

Are there any T1 ships that would be desired in an incursion shield fleet?

Maelstrom's were fairly popular, as I recall. Tempest of course could also fill the role. Never saw any Caldari ships, even though the Rokh theoretically could do just as good.

Maelstrom is probably your best bet. Fairly easy on the fitting, can get very good ehp numbers.

And once you have T2 guns on the Mael, it's only a short train into Gallente BS to open up the Machariel.

When there is not a Wall of OTAs I try to get the stamina to FC armour fleets to bring in the lower skilled guys to the Incursion communities. I hope the shields are as far thinking else a few more communites are going to die off unless they actively recruit soon like BTL appears to be floundering.
The non OTAs VG's can be done with T1 meta 4's usually w/o incidence for the most part.

The Maelstrom is great, and the Rokh is pretty damn good (Dat 30km Blaster optimal), and the Tempest, Megathron, Apocalypse, or Dominix can get it done without being a burden. In reality though it takes more SP to get a T1 BS running anywhere near optimally than it does to train for a T3 or something.

Does this fit look sensible? Anyone any experience flying Maelstroms in incursions? Would it have enough tracking?

Also wondering if it needs a propulsion module.

Sometimes the fleet is pro and you need a sensor booster with a scan res script to target something before it goes pop.

Propulsion mods are only really needed in HQ fleets as its 60+ km gate to gate.

Not today spaghetti.

Thanks - wrt the rigs, do you think the added resistances are more important than higher weapon tracking and shield buffer?

Easier to switch between vg & assault/hq fits with tank rigs I've found.

I shoot for 75% resists and 120k EHP then fit gank.

Not today spaghetti.

Pffff T1 ships.

Its all about the T2/Faction ships.

T2/Faction Master Race >>>>>>>>>>>>> Filthy T1 Peasants.

The fleet is only as fast as its slowest Ship. T1 ships in shiny gang never work, it takes more effort to keep them alive and the low skills generally coming with them creates low dps.

Pure shiny fleets is the way to make isk. Once you get the isk throw that trash T1 away and join the glorious shiny master race!

If I had the skills and enough isk to throw at T2 ships then I would, but I don't, hence the point of my post.
