No, it isn't. Your fleet is just too poorly managed.

2.) The bonuses compared to the Makinaw brings into question why would I bother using this ship for an 20% difference in yield?
Because you want to mine a lot? If you want something else, then using a different ship is the logical choice. Welcome to “picking a ship to fit the task”.

The ore hold is a (35m)³ box. The ship is 400m long. It fits just nicely as it is. In fact, it's obviously all that ore scanning, sifting, sorting, and extraction machinery that takes up space, which is why the Hulk is so much bigger: it gets more ore out of the rocks by running it through a vastly more complicated and much larger production line.

I get the concept, but the logistics of low sec ninja mining are simply not very profitable.
That's not the concept. The concept is “tank”. That's pretty much the opposite of ninja mining, since the premise of ninja:ing is not to get caught. If you get caught, no amount of tank will help you.

So that's pretty much 0/3 for understanding what the ships are for. Good on you.

I can't wait to get my skiff on. Mining is going to be so sweet.

You know this is just the kind of thing that CCP would love to hear... In the test server feedback. You know. The section where people provide feedback for things they have tested on the test server.

Unless you have just pulled the numbers from somwhere and drawn an assumtion from that.

It's hard to run them on different intervals and dump em into a jetcan or directly into an orca.....

To quote Brian Blessed, ARE YOU R*TARDED?!

Oh noes, you must actually use a brain cell! WHAT SHALL YOU DO? Oh, I don't know.... STAGGER THE DAMNED LASERS... or maybe, just maybe.... use a Mackinaw for Ice mining, as that's what they're currently bonused for.

Also, the Skiff has a very real role. Surviving pretty much any half-arsed gank... Even with the changes, a Hulk is still gankable to a small team... but the Skiff? No, that would take a few Arty Torns and no one will dump that money into a gank on a skiff.

The Hulk? Again, 20% extra is brilliant when you're in a mining OP, that's exactly what the Hulk is for, you brain-dead idiot. If you don't want to mine in an Op, use another barge...... in your case, it should probably be the skiff cos you sound too stupid to live in anything else.

You should read the devblog.

Apparently you don't get the concept. Battleship tank won't do you a bit of good in lowsec, it just means you'll die slower.

The skiff is going to be modified to replace the Rokh and Apoc as tanky miners. it will have similar yield and tank to the mining battleships. Mining battleships are for the purpose of avoiding ganks, NOT for risky mining.

Skiff might make an amusing bait ship in low, but I expect it will be rather obvious.

The Hulk has two issues
1.) The ore hold is to small. When ice harvesters cycle, there is not enough room in the hold one strip miner will shut off. This means that every cycle you will have to restart one and move your ice out. That alone would make the ship useless next to the new Makinaw. You need to at least double the size.
When I'm mining roids I get one cycle. That's insane, and yes I fly with a Orca so every cycle I need to move the ore out?
2.) The bonuses compared to the Makinaw brings into question why would I bother using this ship for an 20% difference in yield? I would trade the convenience of afk Mining with a Makinaw any day of the week.
The Ore hold needs to be at least 12K m3. Even with the mining bonuses retained, compared to the other exhumers the new Hulk is questionable at best.
Please don't ruin my hulk.
The Makinaw
Love the concept but you should extend the middle section of the ship to reflect the extremely large ore hold. Now I know the art guys love to do more then what is required and will want to redesign the whole ship but don't let them, because it will take them a year to get around to a full redesign. :-)
Skiff
I get the concept, but the logistics of low sec ninja mining are simply not very profitable. The transit times between the belt and station reduce the ISK per hour to the point that I can't see why I would even bother. Not to mention the risk in getting the ore back to high sec for sale. So unless you planning on anding a complimentary ore hauler with cloaking or other equivalent defensive attributes to the ship inventory your not providing a real use for this ship.
Well one out off three ain't bad. I'll finish with one final thought. Mining just became viable again, after several years of 2 isk veld pricing, don't screw it up. CCP has a very long track record of taking far to long to rebalance something after its been introduced. Drone region ring a bell?

Does anyone else find it hysterical that you have miners bitching their ships don"t mine as much as they used to, while at the same time the gankers are whining about how they are hard to kill now? I mean holy **** are you kidding me? You cry that its too easy for you to die, so they give you the choice to fit a tank and you refuse, so they MAKE you use a tank and you CRY about it. On the other side you have the gankers whining that hulks are hard to kill now and then posting in other threads that ship prices are ********, yet they are killing the guys mining.

/popcorn

Oddly the only people I've seen whining about ship prices have been high sec bears. Dessies are cheap I guess.
