Surely some of you will have noticed them aswell on your tavels thru the Kador region, but the last few weeks on my travels over there I noticed these cans on the gates with a RL religious message. most of them quotes from the bible with the ocasional J Saves those who believes and others

They do not bother me, and i only noticed them while autopiloting and enjoying the universe
I also believe thet freedom of relgion and expression are basic fundamental human rights and i m christian myself
But those RL religious messages do not belong in this game and i am not even sure if they iare even allowed by the EULA

I don't want to petition them, because basicly they do not bother me , nor do i want the person(s) resposible for them banned or punished , they just need to be told that this isn't the place for those messages
What if others start doing this ? soon we will have the whole trade route between the hubs littered with RL messages; religious , commercial or political , i wouldn't like it

I remember the days of HighSec can anchoring, and there were actually ads placed along the trade routes. It added tot he feel of EVE really. little billboards through out space. I kind of miss that.

It was taken out back when Warp to Zero was added to cut back on the server lag.

Yeah, I miss that too.

I always loved looking at the various billboards and stuff.

Religious people playing EVE? Talk about being hypocrites.

I agree. This seems like a give an inch and they will take a mile scenario. I've seen containers with in game messages and thought that was clever; however, RL messages should be left out of the game IMO. Especially political or religious messages. Those two topics are extremely polarizing and there are zealots for all sides, not something I would like to see spammed though out a game.

Those cans ususally have a free bible inside. Maybe perhaps you could stop by one and pick up your free copy today.

It's cool. Only, like, half of us bother voting, so it's not like they'd be too pervasive.

Seriously, who cares? If you don't wanna see the cans, disable them in your overview. Having stuff like that cluttering up your overview in a non-looting-stuff situation is silly, anyway.

Just wardec and kill the owner of the cans, and then destroy the cans. Simple solution.

This is the 2nd thread I've seen in the last few weeks about this religious cans. The 1st thread got trolled to death and it looks like this one is going to end in the same way... Like the other thread, there is little info about the cans so I went to investigate.

Traveling through Kador I quickly found a few of said cans:

Can 1 - PIC - Message: "I am with you always, to the end of the age - Jesus"
Can 2 - PIC - Message: "Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest - Jesus"
Can 3 - PIC - Message: "Be on guard against greed for one's life does not consists in the abundance of possesions - Jesus"
Can 4 - PIC - Message: "Christian? MinMMO.org"

All cans were anchored by the same toon, a 1.5 year old character in NPC corp.

Curious, I visited the website advertised on the cans. In there' I learned a few topics:

Why We Roll
We are raising up a new breed of missionary; one who is uniquely qualified to go into these strange new worlds we call MMOs.

Mission
To Invite, Encourage, and Educate Christians to inject missions activities into their gaming.

They also had a link, titled: "Immediate Need". I followed that and took me to another page where it seems they are recruiting for different jobs:

Ambassador: the heart and soul of the organization. Read some of the examples (EVE only for now because we need you) and start brainstorming some Missions activities that you could inject into your gaming. If you eventually decide that you could shift just 10% of your in-game time to missions you will be a game-changer!

Runner: advertise MinMMO in your world, or use a trial account for another, and run thru advertising MinMMO to any Christians there.

Looking deeper into the site, they also have a forum section, where they have instructions on how to set up more cans:

"Set name of containers (via right-click menu after launching from cargo) to be Bible verses, encouraging words, ads for outreach activities, etc. and anchor them by jump gates, stations, or acceleration gates. Cans can only be anchored in 0.7 sec or lower systems.

As a fun op (joint or solo), set a course thru low or null-sec and drop as many cans as you can before being caught and popped. Note that if you are pod-killed you will lose your implants. It helps to have a Viator or Prowler, Cloaking trained to level 4, and a Covert Ops Cloaking Device II equipped."

Another interesting thing on the site is the description of "Prayer Roams":

"As you roam through your universe pick a random person to start a conversation with. After a brief intro and get-to-know-you time simply ask them if they wouldn't mind you praying for them. If not then ask if there is any specific need, otherwise just say or write a simple prayer for them."

So... from my investigation, these are the things I expect:

1. A whole lot more cans
2. WOW players creating EVE trial accounts to convo-preach random pilots.
3. EVE players being recruited to anchor more cans and preach some more.
4. EVE players being recruited to go into other MMOs and preach there too.

Now if you excuse me, I'll go back to my regular activities and try to make some ISKies... so help me God.

I forgot to mention:

Forum Forensics indicate that the can preacher once tried to make a living doing WH exploration: Here & Here. Maybe he got stuck on a WH and Internet Space Jesus probe him out... dunno. :\

Mabye Sleepers are behing the website MinMMO.org. When he entered their wormhole, the sleepers brainwashed him to love Jesus, then sent him out of the wormhole to preach and spread the word.
