Sorry in advance as I am sure this has been posted but couldn't find them with the search tool. I am pretty much a click and it works mac user so the added steps I have been reading to get these tools to work have obviously been to much for me. I can't get either to work and was wondering if one of you good should would walk this mac delinquent through the process. I am skill training and fitting blind which for a 3 week old player is probably a really stupid thing to do.

I have downloaded both and the GTK seems really hard, found some posts on other sites about how to make it work ended up downloading a few other programs on my computer to make it happen, some of which I am ashamed to say I can't even find, but I can't do it. With my morale low I took a shot at Pyfa and again the result was my head hanging low in frustration and guilt for not being able to figure this out.

Still having fun mind you (except for the dreaded mac client see freeze thread) and looking forward to learning the game and meeting some good folks.

Thanks in advance.

For pyfa, all you should have to do is download the latest version (for mac, this is currently http://dl.evefit.org/stable/1.1.8/pyfa-1.1.8-inferno-mac.tar.bz2 , find updates for pyfa in the official pyfa thread).

All you should have to do (in theory) is extract it somewhere and doubleclick pyfa.app where you extract it. If this doesn't work, post again and I'll see if I can help

As posted above, simply download Pyfa and use it. No mucking about required.

As for EVEMon, just use Mac EVE Tools.
http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/Lupus/Mac_Eve_Tools-25dec2011.zip.zip
It doesn't have a neural remap planner, but it has everything else and works great. Again, no mucking about. Just download and open.

A friend of mine tried to run the 1.1.8 version of Pyfa and it would just bounce in the dock and not open. I downloaded that version and the same thing happened to me. I ended up giving him a copy of the 1.1.6 .dmg that I still had on my laptop. My desktop has 1.1.7, so I think there is a problem with 1.1.8.

Thats not entirely unlikely, our mac guy left so there's noone to make .dmg packages for pyfa or even test the mac build at all

Wow you guys are great! I guess where I was downloading this from was the issue. So I have both programs open!!! Plugged my character into Eve tools and imagine I will lose many hours to skill planning geekiness. Can you load your character into Pyfa or just use the settings in the program?

Thanks again, I was really struggling with this and with your help in a minute I was up and running. Gotta love the community.

So in pyfa I hit import and it brings me to a window that doesn't have a way to import the key or API, just says open one or more fitting files but I don't have any fitting files. Then I go to character editor under the windows tab and I am able to import my character but it seems this is just to edit him and I can't seem to bring him over into pyfa proper. It seems like everyone else can do this and I did a web search and couldn't find an explanation. What is it that I am missing or doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

In PYFA you only get the char option once you have picked a ship to fit, find your char in the top right of a ship fit window in the " Character All 5" drop down.

HTH

* Took me a little while to work it out when I first used it :-)

Thanks that was really helpful. So there is no way to import my current ship so I just fit away? Anyway let me play with it a bit more, that was a big step forward for me. Thanks again.

I'm guessing that he's using an older OS. I have the same issue. He *could* try to compile it from source himself.
