Hi, I've been looking into getting a cruiser like the Gila or Ishtar for ratting and anom purposes, but I've no clue how to fit them without needing twice the CPU it has Ugh

First of all which of these ships are most suited for the role? I'm thinking drone damage only and a cloak as my minimum requirements. I know I can get more damage by using guns + drones but I want to be able to keep going without docking, so I can rat in hostile territory without relying on overpriced ammo.

Haven't tried any Ishtar fits yet, but Gila fits just like any other passive shield tanked Drake ship: purger rigs, some LSE and some resistance fields in med slots, SPR and DDA in low slots. Just keep in mind that you need both Caldari and Gallente cruiser skills trained to 5 for Gila to truly shine. Oh, and do use meta4 modules, they are use significantly less CPU. Something like this.

Ishtar seems to be the most popular for this. Gila I have not flown but as Rinnve said above, you need its skills up for it to shine. For exploration / anoms the Pilgrim is also popular if you have Amarr skills.

Didn't see it before but the Gila has no turret slots so I have to use ammo to get aggro which is a big minus in my book. Can always use a vamp or something but it requires me to get in range to use it.

I haven't thought about the Pilgrim yet, but if it's capable of doing anoms/plex/rat then that is nice to have as well. I've yet to skill Cruiser 5 for all but Caldari, but drone skills are primarily what needs skilling first.

I hadn't thought about using mostly meta 4 to reduce the CPU requirement drasticly, so that helps a lot. I don't want to use the Genolution implants to get everything to fit though, as I have other implants of importance there that I want to fly with.

Downside with the Pilgrim as far as I can see it is that I can only get about half the dps that the Ishtar/Gila are capable of doing with Garde II because it can only field 50Mbit of drones which is a full Hammerhead II flight.

Ammo isn't exactly a problem in Gila, light missiles are small enough to keep 1-2k just for aggro. Also, NPCs aggro on firing, not on doing damage (haven't tested it but I'm pretty sure that this'll work too with neuts/nosfs or any other e-war module).

I've just started using a Gila for combat sites and some L3's just as an experiment, and it works well (3.6mil SP in Drone skills).

It's basically a shield tank, 3x HAM IIs, Black Eagle & DDA II, 7x Warden IIs (Caldari space), Omni II, and a mix of Hobbie IIs, Hammer IIs, and a couple Integrated Ogres just for the heck of it (haven't skilled up to heavy IIs).

Available CPU is currently sitting at 0.0 (but cap stable). P

Guristas: Ishtar - Shield
Serpentis: Ishtar - Shield
EM/Therm (Angels?) - Armor Ishtar.

All else: Gila.

I'll install pyfa on this laptop and try to knock up the fits i use. What rats secpifically are you doing against and are you better with shield or armor tanks?

I believe I'll mostly go up against Serpentis probably. Having fits capable of combating all pirate factions would of course be awesome. Any Ishtar fits would be very welcome of course =) At least it looks like the most capable ship for what I'm looking for. ( deep in enemy lines, no need for ammo pickups.)

I'm okey with using at least a 3% CPU implant as that is what I currently have.
