Tbh if we did that then you would have to change the forum header to a picture of tumbleweed. Just randomly moderate every third post, you'll hit a 96% success rate that way P

Have some people blocked on forums, but not enough like in chat. So I dont have teh invisivle person effect yet.

Back to the OP. The term troll gets thrown about way too much now. Simply disagreeing with someone, seemingly makes you a troll these days. Go figure.

More seriously though, I'd be willing to bet that over 90% of every mmo's general discussion has some form of trolling currently taking place. This is the internet after all.

There are many other forums other than "General Discussion", forums which you, Mr. Op, can relate to in terms of information. Making a post like you did simply begs for a trolling.

Have a good look through General Discussion forums anyway, you will find plenty of relevant and informative posts.
Even I was once corrected about something I alleged was an exploit and was not. I was taught and saw the light.

You too can walk the path of the righteous, simply be decent about it without insinuating that everyone on these forums, in this particular forum, are forum trolls. Even the trolls offer-up good information when approached, fed well and asked nicely.

I have to agree here, trolling in of itself is not the problem.

Spamming a thread with the intent to steer it off topic is.
Starting a personnel conversation with someone that lasts several pages in effect burying the OP's discussion is also a problem.
OH mentioning GSF in a thread will also steer it off topic.
And things like promoting your own thread like look at my signature could also be a problem.
SO so many ways, none of them clear cut on how to deal with them.
But something does need to be done but not a easy fix.
