Besides lowsec offering engagements of the size and type I prefer, the social atmosphere is important to me. In lowsec, people matter. People check each other's bios out, greet in local and in general are respectful- why not, most are after the good fights anyway! Even the bears who come there are tear-free- they are there because the enjoy the risks and are willing to take them.

Correct, with -on top of that- the possibility of meeting said carebears in a belt... possibly armed to the teeth! Makes for more interesting fights then picking on the unsuspecting ones. When I started out in Eve I kept out of low, thinking it to be a waste of time. Better to be safe in hisec OR make big bucks in 0.0, was my school of thought. But now that I have some friends and enemies in lowsec, it's so much more rewarding to stick around then it is to grind hisec, or listen to every whim of an 0.0 bigshot FC for major ISK rewards. To me lowsec is one big casino... with barfights :-)

Low sec = the land of no bubbles where you need skill to tackle ****.

Low sec = the land of "LOL Blobs, I can dock. GTFO", so is small gang friendly.

Low sec = the place where you fight for your space, not plant a structure to claim it.

Until the Null sec sovereignty overhaul (again), not likely to see Null for a while :)

Yes, because all we do is plant and SBU or TCU and leave. We don't have 500+ local spikes to fight over the TCU or SBU....

FC, what do?

It's a matter of scale I guess. In lowsec, I feel personally involved in the shady deals that are struck in every sec layer of Eve. Lowsec is more reactive, more responsive, towards hostilities or political shifts because it isn't always expected. There's no pre-written status quo that paints "the other guy" as your intended kill-target. He's a kill target because he popped a newbie corpmate that wants revenge, or because he's a suspected BPO runner. Or he was the FC of a fleet that camped you at a gate and he's all alone right now.

I left Eve last year because I got bored after about 6 months. Moving towards lowsec after resubbing has sort of "opened my eyes" in regards to the risk / reward factors and sheer gameplay fun. I should have moved into lowsec after 2-3 months, instead of derping around in hisec for almost half a year. Low is where it's at, and the party people know this.

Once upon a time i went to solo pvp in lowsec with my trusty punisher.

Most of the time was spent running from hurricanes, Machariels, Tengus, Bhaalgorns, Legions, Dramiels and the assorted falcon/logistics alts.

The only feasible prey i found was a hauler, which was warp stabbed *sigh*.

Very disappointing Sad

Try talking to the people in lowsec...

Took a new corpmate into lowsec last night, kind of showed him what I know (which arguably isn't much...lol). We then started seeing a pirate corp show up on DScan with AFs, we were in a Rifter and fail fit incursus. So we ran for a bit just evading them. Then I simply asked if they were up for fight. Wouldn't you know it, we got a gudfight. Our 2 T1s vs a wolf...lol... Got smoked...but still in fight (turns out my corpmate has almost 0 combat skills trained and didn't star fighting our opponent until I was dead); I then put together a wolf and came back and fought to hull with the pirate. Left on friendly terms...

Point being, if you ignore the locals, you will probably get ganked, but if you interact with them, they will play with you...as opposed to just harvesting your tears...

I'm a firm believer most Eve Players are good people, they just RP as sociopaths...give them a shot.

I guess that depends on what you mean by party..

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

Got a silly suggestion for ya. Run an anom with a local. Then do pew pew in said location. Winner gets to keep the loot. Awesome.

I love the unique mechanics, using gate guns to your advantage, and potentially dropping a bait Vexor to a fleet of wandering guys and let them pwn you so you can go collect kill rights later.

It has its unique flair that I love.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

Unfortunately null-sec is pretty boring and has been for the last couple of years. Yeah yeah yeah I'm in Raiden yadda yadda yadda but wearing my "unbiased TM" hat 0.0 has been boring for a long time even when it was good for "us".

That's just because you guys had no idea how to have fun.

We in the CFC are quite expert at keeping EVE fun as hell. All of my favorite EVE memories took place in 0.0 space (along with one hilarious memory that took place in WH space, when a gang used one as a shortcut and half of them got stuck inside when the WH collapsed).

As for lowsec, I dunno, I don't enjoy the mechanics there. Gate guns and sec loss etc are just obstacles in the way of pure, unadulterated fun.

The best Eve Friends I have made, I have made in Lowsec. Highsec is full of paranoid schizophrenics. Nullsec is full of... paranoid schizophrenics. Lowsec? It's where the bronies are.

That sounds like a good time! Agree to work together then turn on each other. Would add to the strategy of running the anom; don't want to waste tank, but need to contribute in order to finish anom. I can see it now, last NPC pops and both pilots turn on each other; would be great. You could also use the NPC fight to establish the range you want to fight your opponent at. All sorts of strategy and fun get added to the anom when you know there is a gudfight for the spoils coming immediately after it.

All it takes is the knowledge that yes, people can and will shoot you. The trick is to just not care and talk to them anyway. You'd be surprised how many people are willing to just talk. Don't take the lock personally dude, we don't know each other and if you decide to PvP, I want the same advantage you have. Plus the ones my buddies will add when they drop cloak, if possible.

I have found great pleasure in announcing I have killed the rats in a radar in local, only to warp out when I'm being dropped on. Last time I hacked 4/5 containers before a lone Drake probed me out. I left the system so the denizens could get their cut. Simple comments on avatars / ship choices when being locked and measuring each other up, can go a long way too.

"I am not going to join your Fleet because you will warp me to you and kill me and take my stuff" is a typical hisec comment. People in lowsec are used to getting killed (so it doesn't matter) fly in a brick anyway (so it doesn't matter) and keep their stuff in stations or lockboxes (so again, it doesn't matter). It's an attitude I can relate to far better then grinding away on typical hisec content, though I appreciate their financial contribution to my exploits.

Fighting all the bittervets who hate 0.0 politics and like to fly teh shiney ships is what keeps me in lowsec that and I get to actually use implant sets/hardwirings

Also the lack of 200 man gangs is a plus. For the life of me I have no idea why anyone would want to be in a gang that size I find it about as much fun as my tax return.

Id like to try that at least a couple times to see if it looks as epic as I imagine it to be...
