So I found a grav site. Inside it there is a bunch of barren asteroids, an infected station & an abandoned solar...something... and an acceleration gate. Can I analyze, or salvage (or whatever) stuff inside grav sites? Also, I didn't have time to hit the gate before logging off but I didn't see any roids in there. Is it normal to need to follow gates to minable roids in grav sites?

Well I only ever been to a few k-space gravs sites in all of my time in EVE but I wouldn't discount the possibility that some of them have gates.

Grav = Mining
Magneto = Archaeology
Radar = Hacking

More than likely the acceleration gate was just "scenery" and not actually usable.

I've never come across an active gate in a MAG/RAD/GRAV/LADR site, and I've ran my fair share of them !!

It was indeed scenery. I had some more time to asses the site thosmorning. The problem is that im a mega noob amd solo mining low sec grav sites in a navitas. The rats owned,me and I only made out with 200k worth of minerals. I've decided to relocate my 1 man mining op to highsec grav sites until I can fit a cruiser to clear the sites.

Thanx for the help every one

This may be slightly off topic, but if you insist on mining in lowsec, you may want to train for a Procurer barge. It looks pretty awful now but in about a week it will receive an increase in mining yield, a generous ore bay and the ability to field a nearly BS sized buffer tank.

I don't really insist on mining in low sec....or ne where else. Still brand new to the game and dabbling

Welcome to EVE, friend. I suggest you continue exploration but ignore gravity sites for now. Focus on Radar and Magnetometric. Many cases these sites will not have many defenders and you will be able to hack/analyze/salvage whatever is in there.

I recommend using a cruiser, but some sites are possible to clear in a frigate (high-sec sites), especially if you are broke. Don't fly expensive ships in low-sec until you learn how to make safes and D-scan.

I'm about three months old, never ran missions, and am a multibillionaire. Exploration is not only fun but very profitable : )

Don't ignore DED sites. Make friends and tackle them together if you cannot solo it. That's how I began -- people will appreciate the invitation and will also appreciate you splitting the loot.

Have fun!
