V3 Inconsistency?

So when they started announcing V3 I couldn't wait to see newer slightly redesigned ships, especially since launcher turrets have replaced the magical missiles out of the center of a ship. I had thought this would have meant removing the "built-in" launcher hardpoints a lot of ships had, like the Drake being a big one.

But then the next time I logged on and jumped into my Belicose I was disappointed.

Belicose

The launchers were still there (and not just one ones on the boom, the others that are on the fronts of the cross-section as well), all it seems that was done was the textures changes along with what appears to be the shaders/bump maps? It didn't look like the touched any part of the model itself, just made it look as if they did...

Then I saw them on the Stabber as well:

Stabber launchers

And I was more confirmed in my theory they didn't actually touch the model of the ships like they led us to believe they would way back when the first started announcing these amazing new V3 ships they were working on, therefore I became increasingly disappointed :(

There are other ships too that still have hard points built into their models that never changed with V3, so I beg the question, did any ships actually receive a remodel for the V3? From what I can tell most ships didn't get touched, here and there I can find where previous antennae textures were replaced with modeled antennae, but not much else.

Any plans to do anything about these or just leave them looking outdated?

I know they have removed the built-in launchers from the Eris model.

V3 is mostly just a reorganization of shader and texture format. Many models are still in line for physical changes like the tweeking the Raven had, or Drake. V3 is still a ways before completion with t3 and caps to go.

From my understanding those are not missile launchers.

They collect oxygen particles in space to help rust the inside of the ships.

Why do I have this sig? I don't smoke.

They aren't launchers, the rapier has them and it has no launcher hardpoints.

They're probably close to what Janet said they where, atmosphere canisters and condensers.

the rapier had them because it used the same base model is my guess, and since the base model had the launchers built in it was just that way for the t2 version of the ship

so if V3 wasn't the remodeling of the ship like the raven/drake... then what is that project and when can we expect better modernized ship models?

they changed some of the ship models. Vaga lost its wings and curse model was changed a bit

also rapier does have 1 missle launcher hardpoint =P

I'm sure they will get around to it. : )

So I just had this thought, if they are planning on rebuilding the models of the ships does it make sense to spend cycles to pretty up the current textures/shaders if they are just going to have to redo that work later when they upgrade the models?

Is there something else these development cycles could be used for more efficiently?

Well, from what I understand, current ships' V3 isn't really changing the textures, just the way their shaders work. Pretty sure the amount of man hours going into that isn't really a lot...

On the stabber if you put your missile launchers on the corresponding slots the Missile launchers show up on the sides of the "old whatever they are/launchers" and look very siffy... try it you will like it... also looks good with guns there... they are there on the model as two of the weapons mounts... so even if they originally where "psuedo-launchers" they are not the mounts and so will prob remain part of the model... but like I said try mounting a turret/launcher so it is located in the two spots... looks most choice.

I also though that it looked silly. However, this is space science fiction, could be crew escape pods!
