I just finished this book and while I did enjoy it a great deal the author was really good about starting storylines and not following through with completing them. Here are several questions I still have.

1. The specially built research ship that was researching terran artifacts around the Eve gate and discovered the doomsday weapon. What happened to it? The scientist left to go do something with it, we are not told what, and he just disappears. Where did he go with that ship and what did he do with it?

2. Is the Broker actually dead? I seen to remember a certain chronical that dealt with him still being alive. I will admit I do not know if it was written before or after this book though.

3. Who is the Other inside Jamyl Sarum and what does it want? Why does it do basically everything that it does?

4. What happened to the Retford crew? Where are they now? What did Jonas Varitech do with the Drake? Where is Vince now? What is Tea doing? Her gift of simply being able to have children again is kind of weak compared to everyone else's wishes being granted.

5. What became of Marius\Falek Grange?

6. What became of Karsoth and Camoul Hinda?

7. What in the hell was going on with that Eidolon class battleship and the Eve gate in that final chapter? Who was the Jovian on board and what was his mission? What is the hope of an entire race that died with him? He came out of the Eve gate, how did he get into it or on the other side or through it in the first place? Those bolts of energy that destroyed the ship were said to have been traveling for years, WTF? This entire chapter is how you star a book, not end one!

8. So capsuleers implants that give them their immortality will still scan and transmit their minds even if they are not in their pods? And the implants do all of the actual learning for the capsuleer?

9. So what happened with the Insorum?

10. Who is VILAMO and is he still guarding the Insorum station?

11. What do we know of the Europa Yards Consortium and their ships?

I am sure there are more I can come up with if I think about it. This book just left to many unanswered questions.

One thing you should keep in mind is that TEA only tells part of an ongoing story. It's events are now four years in the past. Some of your questions have been answered by events that played out through in-game news after TEA was published.

Another thing to think about is that several of your questions seem to be asking for an epilogue or "where are they now" synopsis. Sometimes authors leave story threads unfinished because they plan to write a sequel. Sometimes they just don't write an epilogue covering every little detail because the point of the book wasn't to answer every little question, but rather to set up, play out, and conclude the story of a central conflict.

The first thing you'll have to do is accept is that there are things in TEA which simply do not make sense, especially in context of the larger EVE universe. However, I will try to answer your questions as best I can.

The second things you need to know is that there are freaking colossal spoilers for Templar One and the larger EVE plotline in here. If you (or anyone else reading this thread) don't want them, DON'T READ FURTHER!

I'm honestly not sure on this. Sorry!

As of Templar One, the Broker has been hunted mercilessly by Ishukone CEO Mens Reppola in revenge for his assassination of Otro Gariushi. He is suspected to be dead, but given the Broker's near-godlike powers as he was written in TEA, he could very well be hiding.

This is the most complex answer, and is all sourced from material in Templar One.

The Jovians, Enhedduani, and Sleepers are all part of the same initial group of colonists attempting to colonize New Eden. They made their initial voyage from the EVE gate in large ship travelling significantly slower rates than modern warp or jump drives. During this time, the three groups took form: The Jovians departed the ships when they arrived out of warp, choosing to exist in real-space and tinker with genetic engineering. The Sleepers, by contrast, chose to exist in a Matrix-like virtual reality (VR), while the Enhedduani tended to their sleeping physical bodies. Initially, the Sleepers matched every specific being in their VR with a 'sleeping' body hooked into the system - one mind to one person. At some point, however, they collectively 'gave birth' to a bodyless intelligence. This is the Other.

The Sleepers were quite scared of the Other and rejected it; it, in turn, somehoww managed to get itself into Jamyl's head. It intends to try to 'ascend' the rest of humanity into VR like the Sleepers are; why it has chosen to do this by trying to enslave the cluster - using the Amarrians as tools - first instead of just offering the option is beyond me.

The Retford crew reassembles during the events of Templar One. Afraid I can't help with the others.

Karsoth was tracked down by the Amarr Empire and Khanid Kingdon and subsequently executed. Camoul Hinda disappears from EVE fiction, although it is worth noting the character is an Agent in Irnin; whether this can be considered to be in character or not is unclear, considering that there are agents of people who are dead in the storyline still ingame.

Good question. Here's a whole nother thread discussing that question.

8. So capsuleers implants that give them their immortality will still scan and transmit their minds even if they are not in their pods? And the implants do all of the actual learning for the capsuleer?

NO.

There are currently three types of cloning scan in the EVE universe:
- Capsule or 'hard burn' scanners, which instantly kill the person but yield a very accurate picture of the brain. However, they are only effective inside the capsule.
- 'Soft scan' or 'slow burn' scanners take a slow read over several hours, which means they cannot be used instantaneously but are useful in less controlled environments than the capsule to make backups of someone's mind. This backup will only 'remember' anything prior to the date the slow burn was made. Soft scan cloning was for a long time a player-created way of handling the possibility of characters being killed outside of the pod, but was recently confirmed by CCP-controlled characters.
- Sleeper brain implants work like capsule 'hard burn' scanners. They are, however, mutually exclusive with such equipment - you cannot be a capsuleer and have the Sleeper implant at the same time. Sleeper implants are what will make the immortal soldiers of DUST514 possible.

And yes, implants do almost all, if not all of a capsuleer's 'learning'.

9. So what happened with the Insorum?

Welcome to one of the great mysteries of The Empyrean Age. During the attack on the Empire, the Elders are literally dumping thousands of shells full of the stuff onto the Empire's planets, having apparently produced huge volumes of it since Gariushi's widow handed it to them. In the aftermath of this, however, the Republic is still struggling to produce Insorum. Why? I really don't know.

Can't help with these - Europa Yards may have been one of the original megacorps that financed the exploration into New Eden, but there is no proof of this.

I'm surprised. Marcus Jror and his research vessel feature heavily in T1.

I would Recommned that you Read the other 2 novels before asking any more questions because thye may answer them for you.

I wanna ask one more question:
What happened between The Empyrean Age and the chronicle "End of the World" series? why queen's abaddon abandoned in a outer region station which was occupied by rogue drones?

I would assume she dropped it off there for refueling by the Rogue Drones after expending all the collected Isogen-5 on defeating the Elder Fleet.

I'd also assume she didn't leave anybody to tend it because A, an Amarr fleet fooling around in Thukker space would draw a lot of attention, and B, a colossal hive of rogue drones would typically be one of the best defenses she could have asked for. Unless they're Blooders who can somehow control the drones, or Thukkers who can voodoo the drones to their side. :P

Ok. I have already read The Burning Life and really enjoyed everything about it except the slapped together ending.

I will look into T1.

Thank you all for helping explain this to me up to this point!

While I really recommend you reading Templar One, which solves most of all your questions, I'll answer as is your desire:

1. He went to wormhole space to retrieve samples of Sleeper tech (not sleeper drones, but sleepers themselves, who are living in cryogenic stasis on those structures that we see on w-space anomalies), and then retired again to New Eden to work quietly on this tech, which later he delivered to Jamyl Sarum to use with her soldiers. Then he stood there, in reclusion and fear, because it was the only place where the other couldnt read his mind.

2. Yes, he dies shortly after the The Tripwire event, before the minmatar launches their attack.

3. He's an AI construct created by the Architects (now known as the Sleepers) that scaped their control and hs been using the greed of Jamyl Sarum for power to conduct a genocide plan on them as revenge. He manipulated Jamyl to "farm" Sleepers to get their brai nimplants, to create soldiers with them.

4. Jonas joined Mordu's Legion and now is a renown captain. Vincent was made the first operative (because the previous ones died) DUST soldier. Gable joined the Khanid scientists and eventually converted to the Amarr religion. Tea doesn't appear again, iirc.

5. Presumably he died or was released after he was proven useless to Jamyl/The Other plans.

6. That is not known.

7. Check the spoilers in my comment here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=125167&find=unread

8. No. You're talking about soft clones. Those are clones updated once in a while, like a disc image, for the specific case of you dying outside of your pod. In this case, you would awake in a soft clone, going back to the exact point of your memories when you made the clone. This, as we can't die out of pods, is not a mechanic included in-game.

9. It's still out there, being produced by VILAMO.

10. VILAMO is the collective AI of the drones that apparently Otro contracted to guard and produce the Insorum facility. And yes, they are still there.

11. It's a terran corpotation, of the first days after the EVE gate was open. It disappeared after the collapse.

Wasn't said in the novel that the ship ended up being pretty much just a pile of chunk? The whole tripulation (except for Jamyl) died due to the colossal energies unleashed on the weapon shoot.

It's the second time I've read you saying that, and still I haven't seen a single point where it's completely impossible to find an explanation. This far in this forum, "this is not said in-game so it must be false" is the only thing I've heard as an argument (and not even a valid one) for the "inconsistence" of the books.

Really? I spent the whole book trying to find a reference to that, and never found one. Where does he appear?
