Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I like the idea behind the cliché avatar associations, but I'm trying to keep the list rather small.. too many winners means a lot less in the way of prize money, so without further ado, the complete list of 'Best male and female avatar' categories:

CCP Affinity's all-around favourite male avatar - 1 PLEX to the winner.
