Profit drives expansion and exploration. Its what drove the original settling and development of North American and later American pioneers. Without that motivation, all is stagnant. This is human nature.

I hope all of you will give it some thought and at the very least help spread the word.

They also have a kickstarter to help fund the documentary

Also, how cool would it be if CCP donated enough to get an associate producer credit in the film along with a short interview talking about how much interest there is in manned space travel across the whole world, not just in America.

Maybe if NASA didn't waste so much money in the first place. I understand that NASA needs a bigger budget, that is a no brainer, but they are also lacking in financial savvy, they waste so much. The only thing is to let private companies to take over.

Currently the plan seems to be to allow private enterprise to focus on space efforts that relate to our own planetary orbit including perhaps the moon. If they can figure out how to make money out of space exploration, doors begin to open.

The more difficult targets of exploring our planetary neighbors, and most notably exploring the asteroid belts, along with deep space exploration will become the focus of NASA efforts.

This would seem to be a sound plan, but needs two things to happen.

These efforts need to be sponsored by the combined efforts of the world, not individual countries.
There needs to be a profit to be made somewhere along the line.

Instead of investing into some silly documentary you could be investing into real space mining company called Planetary Resources which made announcement earlier this year about going to mine the asteroids in the next couple years (I doubt the documentary is even finished by then Roll).

Until space can be explored for $14.95 per month there are more important things to spend money on. Maybe we could focus on the silly little things like clean drinking water and basic nutrition for the world. Space exploration was little more than an epeen contest between world powers that were afraid to blink while staring each other down. Screw the national pride. How about a little pride in humankind as a whole.

This has been a public service announcement from soap box inc.

That's more of a matter of stoned investors. It is hardly practical.

"I can’t begin to imagine what life was like for the kids in the 60s, growing up and watching us send a man to space for the first time, landing a man on the moon, and broadcasting video back to an eager earth, far away."

Do I truly remember? I was there....

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow:
You are not wrong who deem
That my days have been a dream;

Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I still dream that man has a future outliving that of Earth alone. We have taken a small first step. Don't stop.

Death does not deter.  I will mine until you surrender.

It'll never happen because China won't lend the US the money to do it .

Greetings my fellow citizens of EvE. There is a great complex question that is weighing on many peoples minds, both in the EvE universe on outside EvE as well. How do we keep manned space flight from becoming a thing of the past?

I present you with the answer;

The only thing necessary is the will to take advantage of the many opportunities that are presented.
