Can anyone suggest a fitting to run Gallente L4 Epic Arc missions?

I started to do Chapter 1 of the epic arc, but found that even in a T2/slightly pimped shield tank Navy Domi, or t2 armour tank Megathron, I just couldn't tank the missions from Averon Exchange onwards. In the end my CEO helped me, but he's dual-boxing two toons in Tengus.

Any suggestions about how to get decent tank able to run these missions would be appreciated.

(Please don't just suggest 'Tengu'!)

This is a tough arc. I know you don't want to hear it, but I did it on my main in an armor tanked Domi (dual imp navy LAR) and my Tengu alt.

If you have 2 accounts, just having the second in some sort of smaller speed tank ship can help. I essentially used my tengu alt to fly in and get aggro then zip around the field kiting while the domi could safely shoot.

If you only have one account, I'd almost suggest a friend. I honestly don't know if I could have soloed the arc in a domi. I have wondered if some missions would have worked better in a smaller ship (like an ishtar) where I could have kited and speed tanked.

Also pay close attention to the notes in eve-survival.

For example in mission 6 they recommend "It may be best to trigger this in a throw-away ship, and warp-in at range with a proper ship." Which i absolutely did.

At present I'm using just one account, and I did note the comments on Eve Survival; but I also found that when the rats appear at 15km I just couldn't get enough dps onto them with large weapons to kill them quickly enough - and of course rooms with accel gates into them don't allow me to warp in at range and drop sentries.

Oh well, 31 days or so until I'm in a Tengu!

I've completed (on main) the Gallente epic arc twice now. It's a good challenge to test your fitting and skills.

First time in dual LAR sentry domi. Very hard to complete with lots of warp-outs and begging help from corpies. Second time in shield navy-domi with DPS and dual box an alt in a passive Drake with a couple shield reppers. Very easy with no warp outs or much drama -- hardly ever got more shield damage than the logi could easily repair.

YMMV, but a little logi support goes a long ways to boost the big BS buffer tank and focus on DPS to clear the hazards faster. I had a Drake alt already so choose what's easiest. Having an extra boat with small drones and precision missiles to kill those pesky frigs was a nice bonus too.

Having done the arc a couple times, I do think it can be soloed in reasonably tanked domi. I just needed to figure out some more PVP oriented tricks like tactical warp points to keep range, etc. Flying straight in guns blazing won't work like in L4s.

Good Luck!

Edit: apparently I didn't mention it in that thread but I used a Nighthawk without (too much) trouble. Ended up swapping a BCU for a suitcase for the hard missions though. Of course if you can't fly a Tengu you can't fly a Nighthawk either, so...

yeah I tried these with my 'lvl 4 uber tank domi' you know that one that you aggro everything in the room launch your drones and go make a sandwich and when you come back everything is dead but you and your drones.

well i learned that lvl 4 epic arcs rapped that domi..

I will tell ou that i finished it with a tengu but w/e doesn't matter.

I wonder if a mach would do? or a vindicator.

I am a miner, mission runner, and explorer...

or as EVE Online would have it...

speed tanked purger gila (in one with 3 T2 purgers and 4 SPRII I myself finished Gal epic arc, last mission I had to warp out repeatedly because of very high damage, kiting at 55 km, with 500+ omni tank and AB) or a tengu or maybe ishtar will work best, as some pockets do insane damage (1000-1500 incoming DPS *AT LEAST*) that cant be mitigated otherwise. Omni-tank is needed.

Either that, or purger Rattesnake. With omni-tank.

If your tank dont hold warp out and return, taking enemies one by one. Fit max tank possible.

True omni tank isn't needed. There's little to no EM damage in the arc, but therm/kin/exp are all present (and at times very high). And yes, that means that shield tanks do better, especially T2/3 Gal/Cal shield tanks.

I have done this arc in a rather cheap/low-skill dual XL-ASB Dominix. Good enough burst tank capability, at least with some overheating or running both ASB's, and does good dps. The damage control did come in handy on a couple of occasions however...

A did have an alt in a hauler carrying cap booster charges however. So not completely solo. I would not consider using this without a hauler alt due to the booster charge consumption (would be a lot of work and travel).

I believe it should be possible to get an adequate sustained passive tank on a slightly pimped out Rattlesnake if you have high enough skills. It is also not really omni-damage on all the missions, so I suggest to bring specific hardeners.

Did you really need to post this thread in two forums?

I did the whole arc solo in an armour tanked Navy Domi. I found a few mission quite tough, but it was fairly easy for the most part. I don't really recall the mission you stated, but I know that on the missions I struggled with the solution was usually either slowly pick them off and warp out if need be, rinse and repeat. Or if possible warp in at range and take them out with Wardens.

I used a fit similar to this, only with the hardeners adapted accordingly ofc.

Good luck.

Maybe try this.

Once you land in the room, draw aggro and kite them as far away from the gate as possible before having to warp out. With any luck, when you return to the room the rats will be at a more manageable distance.

My advice on the Averon mission, return to a station and grab a newbie ship or shuttle. Warp to the mission site and trigger the spawn that will web/blow the crap out of your worthless ship. Then bookmark the wreck and come back at 100km in your Domi/Rattlesnake/Tengu/whatever and snipe them as they run down into your hail of fire in an orderly row.

This mission cost me a Noctis because I didn't expect the straggler overlords to spawn at the end of the mission as I was cleaning up. I'll never underestimate how nasty they are again.

what was the NH fitting that you used? im interested in doing this arc (and the others at some point) so id like to have the fittings set up.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

ive done it in an arty maelstrom, and a standard ac machariel a few times without any issues. I couldnt do it in a domi before but with the new drone damage mods Im guessing its doable.

I have done the arc solo twice first time in a 1400 arty fit maelstrom with 2 CN Invuls, x-large shield booster and a 100MN AB warping in to the mess of things requires a few pulses to the shield but whith the AB get range and take the waves out as they spawn.

Last ime i did it in a 800 Machariel, 2 Gist A Type ,100 mn MWD large shield booster and a gist-x shield boost amp. Put your drones on the friggs and ignore them unless they web you. cruisers go down in one to two cycles BS's in 3 to 5 cycles if your skills are up to the task. I get 1428 dps out of my Mach, so essentially 'gank' is most of my tank. took me 20 hours hard grind to complete it in the maelstrom, took a little over 7 hours to complete in the Mach.

I also helped a friend do it in a Tachy fit Nightmare with AB. Cause he thought he might need the help. I think the next time I do it i will take the nightmare, never saw him drop below 80% shield, all he really needed me there for was Cap transfer, most targets were wrecks befor ethey got into the optimal for the Mach (Inside 40 km) I imagine a cap booster or a well thought out dual ASB/large booster, would probally do the job without the cap buddy.

Be advised niether of these fits are cap stable by any strech of the imagination. If you want a permatank solution for Epic arcs then a dual rep XL ASB Vargur might do the trick. but using the boosters and reloading them every 13 cycles can get a little hairy on long engagements.
