TEST, using realdoll spares and leftover pieces of fur fabric.

They also built a quasi-realistic glove puppet to use in MB3's place. mbolt destroyed the puppet but as yet has not informed the poor puppeteer who has been 'operating' him. :(

I have no idea what the **** a fearlessdot is, but with posting like that I'm going to have to start rooting for them.

It seems like the commentators have a lot of trouble changing gears as things happen in the match

Hi,

I wanted to respond to this because I appreciate the feedback (even though your tone is a bit harsh). I've been making fairly conscious decisions around this idea this year in comparison to years past, but its difficult to find the right balance. It seems like breaking up ideas mid - sentence has the potential to be more disruptive than not mentioning things which you can obviously see for yourself. Generally though, I've been trying to be more focused on the match and less focused on bigger ideas (since there often just isn't time for them).

Again, thanks for the input, I'll be keeping it in mind for the next 2 weekends.

ps - For the first weekend especially, the delay was often because of the actual delay we have with the stream view. For the second week I think we adjusted away from that some and relied more on our client.

I think you did a better job of commenting on relevant in-match action in the later matches. I also appreciated your attempts to steer conversation back to the matches when it drifted, such as in one of the Dark Taboo matches. The matches you commentated on, didn't have stuff happening like the commentators ignoring a guardian being re-targeted and pushed all the way through armor over about 30 seconds, as happened in the Raiden/Evoke match.

1) Kil2

He is the kind of young Eve player, who just want to play the game itself for fun and not do freaking metagaming. he is also very good for marketing the game. Everybody likes such a positive character.

Cant rank the others. Raivy and Laz were clearly the 2 commentators with hte most knowledge, but also the most boring personalities. Respect to the guy, who invented the Minmatar rush.

Michael Bolton and his mustache were fun. He was better prepared than last tournament. He actually knew some things this time. The played gay attack on Kil2 was however a typical faux-pas. There should be better commentators available.

Zastrow's monocle was the best outfit-idea. Loved it. Good selfirony, great answer on CCP's monocle desaster. However he was maybe the guy, who knew the least about alliance tournament. Him, commenting the last day in a suit was disturbing. Zastrow and Michael Bolton looked like some college nerds attenpting to look serious. Maybe the idea was to imitiate some anchor men, but that went wrong. Maybe next time the commentators all bring some nice costumes or get them from CCP, for example a Jack Sparrow-like pirate commenting would be fun, if acted well. Of course only if they feel, they can do it. Nobody wants to see bad acting. One rule maybe for the future: In TV it is better to wear something bright and with a bight color. If you go all dark and too average close, nobody can see you.

It should not be so many Goons. 4 Goon commentators + Kil2. I count PL and Test as Goons. It is just like that. That is too much. Sooner or later this will hurt CCP, because it might give the somethingaweful community too much power. I do not mean CCP get directly influenced or blackmailed, but of course they talk and from that the Goons can harvest information, which the rest of the community do not have, because they were not there. Plus simply the fact, there were 4 Goons and they all of course promoted Goons and their view of Eve.

Yeah, their tiresome message board culture leaves a lot to be desired. They just couldn't shut the **** up and call the matches.

I thought the commentators were a good mix. Raivi is super impressive he knows his stuff backwards. By far the most expert of the commentators. However everyone was clear, passionate and interested. The synergy between them was great with some hilarious moments, such as Sunset trying to get them to talk when they were just nom nom noming pizza, MB3's amorous flirting with an embarassed Kil2 and the moustache incident.

Good commentary team, added a lot of fun to the proceedings. Might have been better balanced with one more expert around Raivi's level.
