Hulks are still paper. And people will still fit pure yield fits. Bet they will even rig that poor 500m3 main cargo for just a wee bit more space. Hulks will still die, often. The others... maybe not so much.

But with the Skiff and just a bit less yeild you can have 100,000 plus EHPs. The Skiff is now a viable alternate choice in my opinion. Plus the new ore hold sizes, the AFker types will probobly much prefer the Skiff to the Hulk anyway.

And the Makinaws massive Ore Hold? I think you will be seeing a lot of them running around. And since you don't need expanded cargo holds or cargo optimizing rigs anymore they will be more room for a tank fit.

How much less exactly?

95%?

80%?

75%?

50%?

25%?

25 percent seems about right for the minimal amount of risk What?

if you would have read my analysis in the other thread....

a 2x mlu mackinaw will do just above a 0 mlu hulk in terms of yield and will have roughly 45k ehp - it has 37500m3 ore bay
a 2x mlu skiff will do the same as a 2x mlu mack and has a 84.4k ehp tank - it has 17500m3 ore bay
a 3x mlu mackinaw will do around a 1xmlu hulk in terms of yield and has a 35.8k ehp tank

[edit]
btw - sacrificing yield increases on a skiff you can get up to 116k ehp without fitting any implants

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

it is only the first version on the test server as always CCP will change the stats over the coming weeks
and like a earlier poster stated 90% of all ganks can already be avoided not only by mining in a BS but just by playing smarter , I ve already seen it happen in the region i usually hang out alot of the miners got smarter

but there will still be alot of stupid players around

My only concern is botting such huge orebays will only tempt people into the use of macro s , and it is bots that gave miners and indy characters a bad rputation in the first place

bots were always nearly gankproof to start with if their authors had any brains at all - which considering they made a bot i would think they have. ganking as a response to botting is pure propaganda.

ganking for fun happens
goons are ganking for profit

the huge orebays are a nod to a simple fact of eve: mining is boring. so those of us with two accounts can mine on one to make money, and pew on the other [loosing money :P]

^ It sounds more like a nod to you making stuff up. No wonder CCP doesn't respect players at all with game design.

It actually doesn't ring much of game design. Just seems a hollow shell of the gallente buff or a continuation of it. Or give in to players paper cut ideas.

(It is annoying having to dock all the time with small cargo holds as well, killed my mining. Plus make more money this how.)

About damn time too.

But dont worry spacefriends.

You can still go gank barges and exhumers way out in soviet mordor, where the bubbles roam free and the blobs will make short work of those new spiffy barge buffer tanks.

I spent over 4 hours tonight helping defend 2 tech moons. Until you have tracking dreads, carriers, battleships and ahacs dropped on your hulks, there's a difference. The harvesting may be 'passive' but there's a whole lot of :effort: that goes into taking and keeping moons.

So is this the end of Hulkageddon?

Some clearly took part in Hulkageddon because the odds heavily favored the gankers, now that the teams are more even some are going to leave, others may like the added challenge.

People have always ganked exhumers regardless of if there's a bounty payable or not, some people just get off on making other peoples internet space pixels go boom!.

Hulkageddon used to be a once a year thing, exhumers still died outside of the hulkageddon dates, hell I've exploded miners with corpmates on another character in the past just to remove the competition for roids.

See mining can be PVP (in an assploding kind of way) Lol

sure they have, but not in the magnitude we're seeing now.

maybe time to invest in some skiffs

if those stats are correct and will be left like that , i don't think it is balanced , looks great if you are a miner but i don't think CCP wants a antigankships
plus i am also worried that this will encourage more botting

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire

If CCP did anything they should buff the ability to let us make life miserable for the botters. The ice belts in Kamio are loaded with them. I have gone and logged countless hours looking for bots - just so I can relay that info to people I know that gank them. CCP claims to be putting a stop to them...but I am not seeing it. Bot's are at an all time high.

Are you sure they aren't just AFK multiboxers?

I think the community in general seems to confuse multiboxers and botters, which might explain why CCP isn't stopping them, as multiboxing is within the rules.

People could nullify 90% of high sec miner ganks right now by mining in battleships and it hasn't happened so it's highly unlikely. I don't say this to sound smug or as some kind of 'lol miners' but it just doesn't strike me as likely unless CCP does something extremely dramatic which goes directly against the games key philosophies.

Battleship mining is a horrible prospect for anyone who doesn't have a dedicated hauler or orca or is AFK. Since many find mining to boring to pay attention to it's no wonder this doesn't make a viable choice.

Seemed to work just fine for many years before the barges came out.

Trying to be both ironic and amusing seems to have failed, I was merely poking fun at the term "AFK money making machines". I know that there is :effort: involved in taking and holding tech moons, my previous posting history should show that I'm all in favour of OTEC keeping the moons until someone actually has the gumption and organisation to kick you guys in the nuts and take them from you.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

depends how you define the end. when goons stop paying, or when people stop bothering...

People seem to have already stopped bothering. I checked on the local ice belt near me and there were 8 mackinaws, 3 hulks and 1 orca all chipping away at the ice.

In the early days of hulkageddon, that very same ice field at the same exact time of day/day of the week was dead and empty.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.
