Just curious but, like most Irish Americans, does that mean you were born/raised in the US?

Generalized shite. And really, would it hurt to label the flags with the specific countries? How ******* elitist to think everyone will pick them out..

Always been puzzled by this, it's only Americans that has to try to claim some other nationality by pointing to heritage. So much for their patriotism, always wanting to be something from the old world.

This! We had one Scottish pilot in the corp once, no chance on TS, had to switch back to corp chat. It sounds awesome and i liked it, but during fights it was confusing like hell. Also he was our gentlemen adventurer who shot first and then escorted your pod back to safety Lol and recruited you for the corp if you took the loss with a smile.. we miss him.

I am sure most Americans are proud to be Americans and there is nothing wrong with also taking pride in one geneological heritage as well. Personally I am danish and proud of it!

I'm danish, i don't know or care about where my ancestors came from, if i go fare enough back i could probably claim to be 60th generation roman.

If your family have been living generation in america, it seems strange to try and claim some dual nationality, to a country you probably never even visited. And even more strange to only do it when it seems to serve some purpose, that is really not taking pride in ones heritage.

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

I have never been to America, really only leave Denmark to go to Germany now and then to shop, just seems to me that there is nothing wrong with Americans taking pride in their ancestors heritage.

To quote Stephen Fry:

It's now very common to hear people say "I'm rather offended by that." As if that gives them certain rights; it's actually nothing more... it's simply a whine. It's no more than a whine. "I find that offensive," it has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. "I am offended by that," well so ******* what?

As an American, I can proudly say...

If this were Star Wars we'd be the Empire
If this were Star Trek we would be the Klingon.

There are distinct flavors of America that I think you missed.
First:
Half our country is liberal clueless dreamers, generally nice people but worthless when our utopia breaks.
The other half of our country are conservative gunslingers who are overcompensating 24/7 who can't stand living in utopia.

Second:
Our Politicians played the board game "Risk" as children and forgot that it was just a game.

Third:
The United States provides a Utopian paradise at the cost of everyone else we meet in the entire world.
It would appear some people take offense to being used.

Finally:
If you REALLY want to blame someone, blame the British we walked away with the most valuable land in the world and they let us have it.

Conclusion:
I was born here... I am an spoiled entitled person, who served in the military for four years and expects the world for his service. I am not blind, but only a fool would look a gift horse like this in the mouth.

As for the rest of the world... MOVE HERE, seriously we have WAY more room that we pretend to nearly 70% of our country is undeveloped let alone inhabited. The United States is resource rich, we just need some bright foreigner to tell us to show up at 9am and work until 5pm and everything will be A OK =)

Additionally:

If you've seen our recent video game releases you'd realize a common theme:

WE WANT TO MURDER YOU... PLEASE GIVE US THE CHANCE TO FIGHT A GLORIOUS BATTLE!

Seriously can I back up such a claim:

Modern Warfare 1
Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 3 + 38 DLC Bundles!
ARMA
ARMA 2
Counter Strike: Complete, Source, HD, and now GO!
Battlefield: 1 thru X and A thru Z
Homeland

To Further my point look at our media
An entire series about terrorists called 24 that people STILL want more of... Kiefer Sutherland ISN'T THAT AWESOME.
Almost every movie we make blows up some portion of either LA or NY so we can kick ass and murderfest everyone with HONOR GLORY AND VICTORY!!!!!!!!

Now with 100% less Troll.

I lol'd a lot. It is pretty damn accurate.

We spaniards are all dicks for sure, and most of us "no hablo inglés" except for a few ones who need it in RL jobs, like me.

I don't understand why people complain about stereotypes. It is true sometimes they are disgusting or just plain stupid, but the culture, the way of life and the character of a country is more or less defined by its people, its history, weather and even food, according to some researchs.

So there are general trends you can expect from each country, or side of the world.

I have travelled abroad around europe and also to several asian countries, and while most people is just polite and kind, after making a few friends from other countries you can see that the general trend is more or less always the same.

For example, South europeans are louder when talking, most of the time we are rude when talking (I meet most of my friends calling them SoB or something worse XD) are more prone to physical contact (kisses, hugs) and have a time table which revolves around the morning and the evening, because in most places in the afternoon is so hot outside, you are better at home taking a nap, and going out later, which you can do because you have more daylight hours than in the northern euro countries.

Japanese on the other side, are quiet, very polite (even with their worst enemies) and will refuse any kind of physical contact (as I discovered when I tried to give the usual meet kisses to the first girl I met there)

You can find people which don't fit to those stereotypes in both countries, but more or less, you will find the vast majority of people will.
