I don't think the minmatar logo i copyrighted, and it looks a little different.

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

They just rotated the minmatar logo to a different position and the company is called rifter. Lol It's about as blatant copy as you can get.

You don't need to register a copyright to own it

Probably the best way to contact'd be support@eveonline.com or info@ccpgames.com

Saying you own it is not enough, take the smiley where the owner never applied for trademark or copyright, which means everyone can freely use it.

I guess Eve as a product, has some legal protection for it's original artwork.

You own a copyright as soon as you create the work. You own a trademark by using it. Registration only helps with potential disputes.

No, registration or any formal application for copyright is not necessary for a work of art to be protected. This goes for any international dispute too as regulated under the Bern Convention, even if the offending party resides in the US of A who requires registration for statutory damages.

Copy right law was changed after the smiley was published. And you refer to US law. Both companies in question are based in the EU.

You own the copyright to any original work you create, which may or may not apply to the in-game logos, at least some of them seem heavily inspired from existing art work, e.g. the gallente shield, and you can find a lot of nautilus logo's that share a lot of characteristics with the minmatar logo.

The word "Rifter" is not trademarked or copyrighted.

And the logo ... if rotating the logo a little bit and doing some small modifications was against any law, LG would need to change its logo.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

Look. I just let you know something you didn't. I wasn't oppositional, I just told you, and I told the OP the contact mails. To be nice. First you argue (wrongly) and now you just change your argument to something else, for the sake of arguing.

Trademarked, I believe you are looking for. ALL things are copyrighted by default based on the Berne Convention, announcing and filing said copyright merely strengthens the penalties for use.

Still, Rifter + Min = pretty blatant. Perhaps they're EVE fans?
