I suppose this topic is about two games using the same sound file.

Most likely they both got it from a free sound effects library. Some sounds are very common. The logon sound in old AIM messenger was used in Ashen Empires when a door opened etc.

Eve too complicated? Try Astrum Regatta.

Not sure I hear the enderman teleport but the blocks of compressed ore are hardly relevant...I mean really....is your only argument that it's a square? Or that it looks like iron ore?

Not much of a "rip off" case you got there....

Films do this too. I notice it a lot, because I'm a weirdo. If you ever watch Braveheart you'll notice moans and groans being repeated throughout the film, during the battles.

Yes.. I'm crazy.

Enderman makes a sucking/vacuum sound when he teleports. I have never heard that sound in Eve and especially nowhere near a gate.

The sounds used when working with scanning probes in Eve can also be heard in the background noise in the Science Stores in City of Heroes.

There are some sounds you'll hear in almost every movie. The same five or six squeaky doors, the Wilhelm scream, certain mechanical sounds...actually, between Doom and X-COM: UFO Defense you'll recognize about half the stock sounds they use.

In other words, you shouldn't be surprised that some things sound the same.

As said above, same libraries are used often. some are free but most come on DVD's. There is a sample library for just about anything you want in game or film.

Stock sound effects are fun to spot.

Listen closely to the intercom on about any hospital scene on TV or the movies... you'll probably hear a page, "Dr. Blair, Dr. Blair... Dr. J Hamilton, Dr. J Hamilton"

Some sounds are also used because because audience expects them to sound just ... like ... that and god forbid if they don't sound just like that the audience expects.
