Ms Mai,

you have received some good advice form a few of the other followers of this topic, specifically I think both Ms Khaalis and Master Dethahal who made excellent recommendations.

If, however you are still unsure, please feel free to look me up. I would be more than willing to act as an intermediary between you and anyone in the Empire for the restoration of these slaves and hopefully help you regain transit rights within Imperial space.

As any true and loyal citizen of the empire knows, slavery is completely legal and and it is proven morally sound in the scriptures. For your idea that
Quote:
that any Slaves who are being kept for solely economic or prestige purposes should immediately be freed at the Holders expense to the slave's choice of either the Federation or the Republic.
is not only one of heresy but also one of sedition.

Why, Mr Hashur, you should know that the scriptures only permit Slavery as an institution to improve the souls of those poor people that have turned their sight from God. Whilst I acknowledge the value of hard work as a reforming tool, that work MUST be joined to spiritual instruction if it is to have any hope of improving the lot of those it is bestowed upon. I should also note that I believe that said hard work and spiritual instruction should necessarily persist much longer than the few weeks that Slaves tend to last in certain of the occupations they are employed in.

I have said nothing about abolishing Slavery. I have said nothing at all about turning from Scripture. I merely feel, as apparently does the Most Glorious Empress Jamyl, that Slavery should not be an eternal end in and of itself.

As for the slaves who used to make up a fifth of my own ships crews, I have already disposed of them. Since I was unable to legally free them, I put them in a position to be siezed by Federation customs. I imagine those who have pure Matari blood and a wish to return to the Tribes have already done so. The other Matari descended Slaves have probably sought asylum within the Federation. I have been persuaded that I may have done both them and myself a disservice by taking this action and can only plead that it was caused by good intentions and thoughtless speed.

Anyone wishing to do anything to offer them a better deal than their unworthy owner, myself, is too late. The past is written.

That is true and I can not fault you there but who are you to decide that a slave has been morally and spiritually reformed? The slaves that you say are for prestige and economic benefit could also be undoing reforming but in a different way from the ones who are doing physical or other demanding labor.
My apologies for not fully understanding your proposal or the origin of it Ms.Mai

This is a particularly interesting question, Hashur. One could argument that it's well within a Holder's responsibility not only to retain a slave for reformation, but also to determine when said reformation happened.

With that in mind, wouldn't 'who are YOU to decide that the slave wasn't reformed' be a valid question? I tend to believe that Ms. Mai's action spoke more of how a loving God can be seen through compassion and thus allowing for true reformation, than any of the actions of heretic, seditious Holders.

You should join the Amarr militia. From what I understand, it is not uncommon for many of the enlisted pilots, without any special status of their own, to own slaves of their own. However, the ones we attempt to utilize are no doubt a bit more feral than the ones you find in high security space and occasionally I whip my slaves back and forth to keep them in line.

It is troubling how quickly many capsuleers forsake their faith and cast aside the holy mandate upon which the Empire is built, instead resorting to immoral slavery, self-serving indulgence and blasphemy. I almost wonder if the first step in maintaining the righteousness of our purpose and path would be to forcibly drain capsuleers of assets and resources and strip from us any slaves that are held by the unrighteous.

Of course, the dilemma becomes that more lives would be lost in trying to save the few than would be gained. Perhaps there is hope that some capsuleers will listen and return to the fold.
