Dear CCP Devs,

I already created a petition for this topic, but the help channel reccomened I also do a forum post so here goes:

At around 4:30 EVE time I started a L4 mission that required me to clear out small pockets of NPCs. It was an extremely easy mission and the only thing that got me was the screen spasmodically flashed white every time I destroyed a ship. Around 5 minutes later my client crashed.

Of course I logged back on immediately to save the ship and breathed a sigh of relief to see my ship had jumped to a safe location. I started missioning once more and my client crashed on me again this time without any white flashes.

Repeat Two More Times:

At the final crash I logged back on to see in my horror the dreaded notification regarding Insurances paybacks. My ship had been destroyed... My theory although I am not sure was that the ship had been warp scrambled and as a result could not jump to a safe distance once my client crashed. Furthermore, the modules repping and applying resistances to my ship also stopped working along with the disconnect.

Please Please CCP. Look into this issue and contact me for further details.

Sincerely,
Juno Libertas

I had the same thing happen in an escalation and tried to petition it. No love for me though with the explanation that it has to be "the same for all". You could argue that the state of the Mac OS client back then wasn't really "the same" as it's Windows counter part, but my proteus remained scrap metal.

Sorry dude but simply don't fly what you cannot replace.

A warned person usually counts for two. You kept crashing and crashing. Instead of deciding to call it a day, you went back in, and back in and then you lost your boat. Bear

Also white flashes may be due to hardware trouble.

My last 4 loses have been due to disco issues. I still have these problems frequently - usually during but not limited to a session change. I do have a client on a laptop where the game seems to run flawlessly. The heat is ridiculous so I don't use it for EVE for more than 10 or 15 minutes, but it loads much more quickly and it doesn't glitch during fleet invites or session changes.

I'm planning to reformat my drive when I upgrade to 10.8 and see what effect that has. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and set up bootcamp too.

Yeah I filed some bug reports to CCP about the issue. Currently my hotfix was just bootcamping to windows and playing on the windows client. :)
