how can fit ship for more defensive?

*Change your rigs to + armor instead of cargo opts.
*Get Damage Control II in place of Expanded Cargo Hold.
*Fit an armor plate or EANM in place of armor repper. (I don't do this one, but it does give you a bit more buffer)
*You can also try fitting an invuln shield, or a shield extender in mid if your cpu can handle it for a little extra padding.

I honestly don't think you can tank a retriever enough to avoid a gank, especially in .6 (they can get too many shots off before concord arrives). However, even with low skill, they are one of the faster indies to jump to warp with.


Advice for tactics while mining.

*Always keep aligned to station.
*Never mine within 30k of warp 0.
*Always keep up player ships on screen (or a second just for it if needed)
*The MOMENT any ship you do not recognize, or any destroyer at all pops, spam warp.
*Since you are in .6, set your Dscan to about 1/2 range and keep it updated. This is much more annoying but if you do it when you know pple are in system, you can almost never be jumped. You can be warping out while they are still coming out of warp.
*Anyone that you KNOW is a ganker, or hostile, bring up their char info and set them to -10 status with you. Every time they show up in zone it will have a nice shiny red for you to watch for.

With a retriever, you're really going to want to mine aligned, as there's not a lot of ways you can tank it. If you're going to tank it (bad plan, but v0v), do the above and mine in a 1.0 sec system to minimize the amount of time your neighborhood ganker has to kill you. Or, accept the loss and try to avoid losing your pod next time, as you probably mined enough to pay back the cost of the retriever before it died.

Always has been. And, really? There are certain people here from whom I kind of expect invocations of Godwin. I thought the Tuskers were better than that.

Ganking and the Holocaust are not remotely comparable.

I'm tired of explaining exactly why people gank miners (cause it's easy, watching stuff explode is fun, cause it's profitable, etc.), and "because they're there" seems like a good enough way to boil all those reasons down.

The Holocaust had many underlying causes. "Because they were there" is not an adequate way to boil down any of them, and suggesting that it's comparable (by making the comparison) to intended and legal gameplay in a video game is offensive. Seriously, next time you think "Hey, I'm gonna make a funny and [call someone whatever]/[compare something to the Holocaust]", Don't.

And since this fit reeks of noob as much as your asteroid orbiting i will be a nice lad and contract you a new retriever in Jita after downtime! Maybe i will even toss in a nice set of +3s to speed up your training as your pod was empty with the exception of a few teeth! See it as a learning lesson.

Besides the imagination of doing lvl3s in a Caracal just gives me Nightmares...someone has to stop this madness!
