Sorry, but space camo is all the rage these days, regardless of how stupid the very concept is.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

The concept is no more stupid than any other paint on ships.

Its an identifier for the nation's military (and maybe a symbol of patriotism). Nothing more.

Until we can perform raids on planets with our ships, the concept will always be stupid. At least, the terrestrial camo we got now. Before the V3'ing we actually had a good space camo on certain Interceptors; a very, very bright alloy that looked like it was designed to deflect lock-ons and stuff.

All white and shiney.

THAT would be effective space camo, ironically. Patters that makes you blend in with trees and snow would NOT be effective space camo.

Roll on customizable paint jobs for corporations and alliances then..

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.

Its not about effectiveness (because visual identification of a ship at a dozen KM is not likely). It about personal (in this case the empire involved) taste.

Maybe its tradition. Maybe an Admiral was like "Camo is cool." Maybe someone dropped the paint bucket and they had to cover it up.
Doesn't matter.

I'm still lamenting the dark black/grey pattern with green lighting and contrails the Vigilant used to have. It looks so...drab now.
