Best/Favorite Solo PvP Ship?

Hey all, I'm looking to move a character into lowsec/faction warfare for both solo and small-gang PvP. I still enjoy the null-sec life and will keep playing it, but thought I would move into a new area of the game to try it out and have fun.

So, I'm looking for a frigate sized ship to solo around with and run in small gangs. Faction/Pirate/T2 is what I'm looking for. Hopefully with projectiles, but I wouldn't mind training into something else.

I'm looking for balance; speed, maneuverability, firepower, and defense. So what's your favorite ship to fly, and what do you consider, "best"?

Those cant all go on one ship its either the first 2 or the second 2.

In any case sounds like you want a Dram

Why so negative? Of course you could balance all four on one ship.

That would mean
- Anything you can catch can outlast and/or outgun you.
- Anything you could outlast or outgun can outrun you.

Basically the classical problem real-earth battlecruisers faced.

'Best' is an easier question to answer than 'favorite', contrary to there ist no best:

Faction: Hookbill, Slicer, Firetail

Pirate: Dramiel, Daredevil, (Cruor)

T2: any AF, Taranis, (Sentinel). And in small gangs: fleet interceptors, kitsune, (bombers).

If you like projectiles: Firetails are good, cheap, and relatively engageable. In your place I'd buy a bunch of them and fly them until I wanted to mix it up with Dramiels and Wolves.

Faction Battleship: Rattlesnake, Machariel, Tempest Fleet Issue

Battleship: Dominix, Tempest

Strategic Cruiser: Loki, Tengu,

Heavy Assault: Vagabond, Cerberus,

Cruiser: Rupture, Caracal

Faction Cruiser: Stabber Fleet Issue, Caracal Navy Issue, Cynabal, Vigilant

Battlecruiser: Talos, Hurricane, Cyclone, Drake,

Destroyer: Thrasher, Cormorant,

Assault ship: Harpy, Jaguar

Faction Frigate: Firetail, Hookbill, Dramiel

Frigate: Merlin,

I have 3 of each of these ships in 2 different regions in Armarr and Caldari space. They tend to do everything a solo pilot could need or could be able to do solo. Minus the Myrmidon, Maelstrom and Hyperion v0v

Destroyers (Coercer, Cormorant, Thrasher) and Battlecruisers (Talos, Drake, Hurricane, Myrmidon) are the best bang for your buck. You don't need to fly any other class of ships and you'd be golden for the rest of your pvp career.

If you fly skillfully, your speed and your maneuverability _are_ part of your defense.

But if you're really going for a bit of everything, just mixing damage modules with tank and starting with a fast/agile hull (minmatar, typically) and you can get a pretty solid balance. You're also going to have issues with the frigate size category, they specialize a lot more than most of the larger ship classes. And, finally, be aware that jack of all trades tends to translate to master of none-- expect to run people off pretty well, but not make a lot of kills.

for faction warfare, T2 frigates are less usefull than navy/Pirate ship's because of their abillity to enter minor plexes.

In my time it was mainly, Hookbills, Dramiels and Daredevils, so concerning faction war I'd advice one of these.

BC size: Sleipnir, Hurricane, Cyclone (You said speed, so I am not including active rep myrm)

Cruiser: Cynabal, Vigilant, Stabber Fleet, Rupture, Omen Navy, Thorax

Frig Size: Merlin, Punisher, Incursus, Dramiel, Daredevil, Comet, Hookbill, Harpy, Enyo, Ishkur, Wolf

Also destroyers, ie, Thrasher, Corm, Catalyst

Pick one you like. I prefer the Wolf. YMMV.
