Why is mission text so cryptic and vague?

I've taken a hit to Caldari and Amarr doing Level 2 Missions for Republic Justice Department. There's never anything clues within the mission text explaining that you'll be fighting Caldari or Amarr, etc etc.

What's with the cryptic and guarded nature of the texts? This seems silly to me. It comes down to either taking a hit with whoever you're shooting down (when they aren't pirates or something) or taking a hit with whoever it is you're doing missions for by canceling missions.

Real dumb.

According to fanbois, everything that sux is not a part of the core gameplay. Therefore missions can be created by the cleaninglady and its ok to be of that quality.

To answer what I assume the actual question is, though it's kind of hard to tell in all the whining about your own incompetence, mission text generally includes a little rectangular badge symbol for the faction you'll be shooting, generally by the yellow-letterd link to the mission location/bookmark. This has been the case since like 2008, iirc.

Look for the badge, and if necessary click it and go to "info" if you can't read it. Or you can read the entire text, which frequently tells you what faction you're fighting as well.

Good job complaining about a really, really obvious thing with a solution you could have found on google in ten seconds, though.

Wow. That's some passive-aggressive answering if I've ever seen it.

And no. If it gave me outright clues as to who I would be knocking out of the sky, I wouldn't be here asking would I?

Anyone without aspberger's wanna give this a try?

Well, if you can't see the faction badge in the mission text...

1. Go to Eve-survival.
2. Select and view mission.
3. Note faction.
4. Profit.

Not even any question marks. Yay.

Oh, and don't only run one agent at a time. Having a backup agent or two will let you delay a mission for the 4 hours before you can decline it with no standing loss while you work for another one.

they are level 2s, the hits aren't going to be all that big. so freaking what. and even if you do get locked out of jita MEH! there are a bunch of other hubs (and if you want to qq still alts and/or courier contracts). I took pretty much every mission I was given up until level 4s and had plenty of standing with gallente to burn (which I have since burned... stupid frog eaters). once I hit 9.9 with caldari (at 9.7 now) and get my 2 run cnr bpc I might think about fixing it, but probably not.

Yeah they aren't that low to be honest, I just don't like seeing negatives. I also learned about delaying missions last night as well because of this topic. So thanks everyone.

Actually, there is for most missions. In the right half of the Agent Conversation window, there's a small icon that shows who you'll be fighting. If there is no icon, it's either Rogue Drones or Mercenaries. For every other faction, just click the icon if you're in doubt about who you'll fight.

I understand your confusion. I was happily killing Amarr when i started playing the game until someone pointed out the standings drop.

In my case... and probably in all cases in EVE... corpmates are a LOT of help :)

Seeing the icon however doesn't mean that new players know the implications of shooting certain factions.

And about those passive agressive/mean peeps on the forums... they just need an occasional hug, some people have a REALLY hard time in this game. It shapes their personalities :p

good luck o/

This.

When in doubt: right click -> show info.
The major thing about EVE is that all is explained if you actually do some research. Most mechanics are there for a long time so plenty of guides to help you.
